So, I'm way too late in posting this (again), but my 26th birthday was last Sunday!!

Wow... I'm 26. I remember when it felt like it would be a LOOONG time until I was 13. Now I've waited that long twice!

What I got for my birthday:

- Piranha Plant amiibo!
- Three books I read years ago and wanted to reread: Caps For Sale, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and How to Eat Fried Worms! (Well, I thought I read them all years ago, but I'm reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing right now and everything is so unfamiliar to the point that I think I may not have actually read it years ago, I just remembered thinking the title is funny-sounding. So maybe I'm reading it for the first time now! Would you look at that!)
- They didn't come in until the 18th, but Nintendo Labo VR Goggles!!!! I've been wanting those ever since I knew about the new VR mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! :D

(note to self: put in the previous/next buttons later)

(This marks 10 years after when I did this when I turned 16, the first time I ever posted this for my birthday. Wow... I've known about this website for over ten years. And it's still around, even! Good for them!)

At age 26:

American anthropologist Margaret Mead wrote her famous dissertation, Coming of Age in Samoa, which claimed that in some societies adolescence is not a particularly difficult time.

Albert Einstein published five major research papers in a German physics journal, fundamentally changing man's view of the universe and leading to such inventions as television and the atomic bomb.

Benjamin Franklin published the first edition of Poor Richard's Almanac, which was to play a large role in molding the diverse American character.

Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Chereshkova became the first woman to travel in space.

College dropout Steve Wozniak co-founded Apple Computer.

Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, revolutionizing the economies of the United States and Britain.

Antoine Joseph Sax invented the brass saxophone.

"Johnny Appleseed" brought apple seeds to the Ohio Valley.

Napoleon Bonaparte conquered Italy.

Gon Yangling memorized more than 15,000 telephone numbers in Harbin, China.

Orion Krynen of Denver, CO reached this age without much incident.

British ethologist Jane Goodall set up camp in the Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Reserve on Lake Tanganyika and began studying the lives of chimpanzees.

Ken Kesey published his first novel, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Thomas Pynchon published V., for which he won the William Faulkner First Novel Award.

Kirsteene Luhrmann of Melburne, Victoria quit smoking.

Stephen Breen from Dublin, Ireland found this site.

Darren Blackburn became the first and only athlete of the Principality of Sealand, despite being somewhat lacking in athletic ability.

Syd Jesus co-founded the dUdU Art Collective in Oakland, California and turned an entire warehouse space into a conceptual art piece entitled "The $5000 Gallery."

Matthew Royer took a dog for a walk every day of the year in Minnesota, with a coldest daytime high of 0 degrees F. The average walk time was 30 minutes.

Derrick Pallas was horrified to realize he was losing his hair, just like Dad.

Jan Birkeland from Norway managed to get to work without hitting a single red light.

Katherine Blauvelt in a skirt was deemed "all grown-up" by her boyfriend.

Kristen finally was able to get her fingernails to grow without chipping and peeling because she started taking a multi-vitamin on a daily basis.

Tom Pemberton rode a bicycle with lit fireworks strapped to it into a pool while wearing a banana costume.

SJ Yee resigned from a giant multinational corporation to found a personal development site for the book smart.

Angie Olson got so drunk on her 26th birthday, her friends were able to dress her up as a clown.

[personal profile] matt1993 discovered the two mysterious lost episodes of Super Mario Maker Crash Course.

...

Okay, okay, that last one's not on the list. But it SHOULD be! I have a story behind that. Stay tuned for when I write a full post about it!

It's December now? GOOD!! Because at least there's one New Year's meme I can get out of the way now, six days before I get too distracted playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to remember to do it. :)

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2018. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

January 2018

I think there's a glitch in my copy of Windows 7. It says today's date is "1/1/2018". I thought the year 2018 didn't exist - didn't the world end in 2017?

February 2018

YES! I'm FINALLY done fixing all of my entries in 2007-2010! (Hopefully...)

March 2018

It's Friday already and not Tuesday or Wednesday... but at least this is still the most regular feature I've had in my journal since the weekly Garfield Randomizer comics in 2009!

(This, of course, is about my weekly Miiverse backup entries... which of course did not remain a regular feature for long...)

April 2018

https://www.mariowiki.com/Mary_O._and_Yamamura:_The_Movie

May 2018

So I found this two-part YouTube video called "500 Characters I Want In Smash Bros. Switch"...

June 2018

About time I posted some more of these. Once again, I meant to post them last week...

July 2018

- On June 14 or 15 or so I saw The Incredibles 2, then saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom a week or two later! I liked both :)

August 2018

It took four days (more than that if you count the time I spent putting it off), but I'm finally done fixing one of my longest and most cringeworthy entries ever! :D

September 2018

Well... it's September 4. So Sunday was the first anniversary of the day I was finally motivated - by a glitch LJ had for about three weeks where a lot of images were suddenly broken in entries - to finally get around to fixing the broken images AND everything else I wanted to fix in my entries on both LJ and DW.

October 2018

WARNING: I am extremely depressed and therefore this entry is going to make no sense whatsoever because I am physically incapable of wording an opinion very well when I am depressed.

November 2018

[livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien stayed at my apartment for a while; in that time we watched the How To Train Your Dragon TV show! (Specifically, the third of the three shows there were. P_A, what was the third show called again? Dragons: Race to the Edge.) We made it to season 4. :) Have any of you watched it?

December 2018

It's December now? GOOD!! Because at least there's one New Year's meme I can get out of the way now, six days before I get too distracted playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to remember to do it. :)

Stop compromising with alien_infinity.
Take princesskitu drawing.
Apply for a new math.
Find a better inflation.
Go to nonpartisanship every Sunday.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

I could definitely use a new math, since I'm no longer good at the old math!

----

In other news, about a year ago today I got over my depression about the Forbidden Comment Threads just in time for Christmas, and in fact, got over it for the longest period of time so far; in fact, at the time I'd thought I'd gotten over it completely. But now I'm not only still depressed about it about half of the time, I'm also depressed about anything that even vaguely reminds me of the Forbidden Comment Threads (and now, many more things fall under this category), and just as much as when the Forbidden Comment Threads were actually happening. So I don't see myself nearly overcoming it again this year. I'll probably be happier on Christmas Day, but aside from the fact that I'm still not depressed every moment of my life, that's it. :(

Thanks for ruining my life, [livejournal.com profile] asperger. And commenters in [livejournal.com profile] news. And the Facebook group I Have a LiveJournal!. And too many more things to name.

Yep - I created my LJ account on August 19, 2007. Sad how the anniversary of LJ should happen to be the day after I accidentally deleted a lot of LJ-related stuff, though... in fact, I was so busy after that happened, I didn't get to finish this post until the day after the anniversary of my LJ. :(

I also wanted to include LJ comment stats (which I said I'd do every three months starting on the fourth anniversary, but ended up deciding to just do once every year), but since this post is already late, I'll post them later.

First line of my first entry on or after the 19th of every month )

5post
matt1993: (no-edged sword)
(what I wanted to put for the music tag: "Dr. Mario - Chill (SSBB version), Super Mario Galaxy - Speedy Comet and Final Bowser, Enya - Cursum Perficio backwards, and Sarah McLachlan - Black all at once and in G Major")

I visited the college that I am the most interested in from Sunday to Monday, staying overnight in the dorm (like I'd done before at another college).

Although the first day was pretty good, the second day ruined it for me. It all started when the fire alarm went off at 12:30 AM for no reason. Once I realized that it wasn't just imagination, I was hit with the realization that I hadn't quite memorized the fire escape route, so my plan was to just run through random hallways on the floor I was on until I either found the elevator (because I hadn't remembered "oh yeah, I can't use the elevator during a fire or fire drill" yet) or someone who knew where it was. Fortunately, this was actually much sooner than I expected - I heard some guy's voice so I followed him down the stairs and outside the building. Even though there wasn't a fire - the fire alarm came on by accident - it was clear from right then that I wouldn't get anywhere near enough sleep that night, since breakfast was at 7 and I hadn't even fallen asleep once yet. Especially since, in my no-common-sense hurry to get out of my room, I forgot to take my room key with me and ended up having to borrow the master key. Which I accidentally used to open the door to the room next to mine at first.

And, as expected, I briefly woke up and went back to sleep several times starting at 6, eventually becoming awake enough to get up at around 7:30 or 8. By then, my roommate was already gone, and only a few people were downstairs, none of whom knew where to go either. I ended up missing breakfast completely - and I thought I was late that one time at Camp El Tesoro when I got to breakfast just a few minutes before it was over! Throughout the rest of the day, I also got separated from my group and ended up lost 3 more times. :(

The lack of common sense apparently didn't end after the trip was over, either - I somehow managed to post even more comments in [livejournal.com profile] asperger that I ended up regretting despite the fact that:

A) I didn't even mention a cure for autism this time, and
B) I had a feeling it would happen just like I knew this, this, and the fact that I probably haven't heard from Schrödinger's Enya in awhile because I acted like the paparazzi countless times would.

Will I ever say anything that I won't end up regretting? :'(

Speaking of those comments in asperger, people there have pointed out that "creative tumors" isn't a good term for, well, creative tumors because it's kinda unpleasant-sounding, but I can't think of anything better. Do any of you have any ideas?

Things that won't work for a renaming of creative tumors:
- daydreaming (that would imply that I am creative enough to come up with these ideas almost constantly, rather than every now and then randomly)
- creative spasms (saying "4 or 5 years ago, the most creative spasms I had at once was four" implies that I thought about four ideas at the same time, when really I mean to say that four ideas kinda took turns distracting me)

This entry is late for your journal

...because it's Sunday and I STILL HAVE HOMEWORK. Ugh.

I'm about to get onto it, mind you - I just needed to complain about it first.

For a while, I had gotten better at making new LJ userpics as opposed to procrastinating making them. I made one new userpic on Thursday, three on Saturday, one on Sunday, and what I think is a new record - FIFTEEN yesterday!

But then, apparently I flipped back to being a procrastinator, because pretty much all I did the rest of the day yesterday was play Data Worm on Facebook, read random pages on the Homestar Runner Wiki, and reading random stuff on Gadzillion Things. The only other eventful thing I did was watching part of the eclipse last night with [livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien and Stephen.

I think I set another new personal record today, as well - I didn't get up until 2:22 PM because I was so tired. :(

Collect this entry and post it to your journal

I had such a bad and tiring day that I had a whole post complaining about it and accidentally posted it in [livejournal.com profile] goodbandnames! Good thing I deleted it. No wonder the only tag that would automatically be suggested while I typed was "author cancelled". Who used that tag in that community though? Maybe I'm so tired that I can't even remember what tag(s) were being suggested...

*checks "Post to" field*

Matt1993? Good.

Anyways, to recap:

Today-
Homework: some anatomy, some math, reviewed for HAS quiz that I can't take yet

Tomorrow-
Homework: outline (has to be done entirely tomorrow), HAS essay and graphic

Day after-
Junior ring ceremony and going to Incredible Pizza, so I can't really work on anything

Thursday through Sunday (assuming no apocalypse) - HAS essay and graphic

I get the feeling it's not just a coincidence that the research paper outline is due on my dream's second apocalypse prediction.

Accidentally post to a community

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In August I gave [livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien a [removed because this meme's immature humor is NOT gonna ruin my joke] (-10 points). In July I put gum in [livejournal.com profile] pingback_bot's hair (-12 points). Last Sunday I set [livejournal.com profile] mollyringwraith's puppy on fire (-66 points). Last Tuesday I [quit trying to put immature humor in my journal, you stupid meme] (-6 points). In February I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-1106 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Sincerely,
matt1993

Just another manic Monday
Do you look forward to returning to work/school on Mondays or do you live for the weekend? What do you enjoy most about weekends? What do you dread most about school and/or work?

Answer View Answers

Weekend, PLEASE!

What I enjoy most about weekends: weekends.

What I dread most about school: school. (And essays.)

Repost (open Saturday and Sunday)
matt1993: (celery!!)
I decided to post more comics made with the Garfield randomizer every Monday. This time, though, I right-clicked the page, clicked "View Source", saved a modified version that would use any non-Sunday Garfield strip instead of 2001-2004 to my computer, and used that instead. If you know of a Garfield randomizer that can use any strip without needing a modified source code on my computer, let me know.

Anyway, here's 31 more comics )
matt1993: (Default)
Even more band names taken from conversations )

I had to spend time actually participating in drama this week since it was the last week to come up with a skit to be in and practice it, so I didn't get as many band names this week, but oh well.

It's hard to describe this journal in just a few paragraphs... but I'll try

Just an autistic guy born in 1993 (hence the username) who's had this journal since I was 14. Has trouble phrasing things well especially in earlier entries, so keep that in mind.

My interests have fluctuated in the 17 years since I've had this journal, but the following has remained constant:
- I like Mario games (mainly the platformers, Mario Kart, Mario Party) and Super Smash Bros.
- I like Garfield
- I like Homestar Runner
- I like Enya
- And I've always loved the idea of wacky crossovers between ANY of my interests, whether it's in the form of a short-lived webcomic in 2006-2008, a short-lived backwards lyrics site in 2008, writing down weird dreams in 2009-2011, playing Tomodachi Life a lot in 2014-2016, or what most of my posts are about these days: playing around with Character.AI starting in 2023. I still can't believe I'm actually in a world where an AI of Enya can talk to AIs of Mario or Garfield or even my favorite obscure characters like Mary O. from Super Mario Maker. :O

Go to my sticky entry for more.
