Remember when I used to make a crossover comic with characters from all my favorite fandoms? And then it went on hiatus and I initially promised to make a reboot of it one day but never did?

Guess what?? I'm FINALLY working on a reboot of PrtSc Land!

I've even got a few sneak peeks for you! I haven't drawn the artwork yet, but here's some dialogue I've written:

Sneak peek 1 (spoiler warning)

Domain LiveJournal.com was registered on April 15, 1999. The same year, the cult movie "The Matrix" was released, the 6 billionth inhabitant of the Earth was born in the city of Sarajevo, and Britney Spears' debut single Baby One More Time topped the world charts.
On April 15, 2021 LiveJournal turns 22 years old! LiveJournal celebrates its birthday and gives you a card with a bright event that happened the year you started your blog!

What happened in your life the year you started your blog?

To answer that question, 2007 was when I started high school, and I probably got the Wii that year and was looking forward to Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And I first joined the IRL autism social skills group that I was a part of for a while. 2006-2008 was of course when I was also way too obsessed with a certain "funny"-screenshot-gallery-turned-crossover-comic that I used to write, and 2007 was when I put it online for the first time. And while I had already been a fan of Enya's music, 2007 was the first time I saw photos of her, which makes that when I first started to develop a crush on her. :) Also, am I lame for having never seen Lost?

Interesting how LJ came up with a meme involving years like this just now - recently I figured out that creating a Spotify account was easier than I expected it to be, so I did, and I decided to listen to all of the "Top Hits of <year>" playlists from the year I was born to the present in order. In fact, by doing so I learned that Baby One More Time was released in 1999 just before LJ mentioned it in this meme. :) (I do remember Britney Spears being popular during my childhood; I just didn't know the exact year any of her songs were released)

Those of you who created your account in 2016, 2020, or 2021: What did you get? Hopefully something good. I really hope this meme sticks to its word and lists a bright event for EVERY year, instead of doing the already overdone jokes about those years. I hate that people STILL get judged for enjoying 2016/2020 or enjoying anything about them or having looked forward to them. :(
matt1993: (conga of the apocalypse)
As if it wasn't bad enough already that one of my favorite webcomics of all time is now 99.999% gone and it's unlikely that it'll ever return and all of my favorite YouTube channels, or at least the ones about gaming, could all disappear and I still remain unconvinced that they won't, now I heard that FACEBOOK WENT DOWN EARLIER TODAY???

I don't get on Facebook very often nowadays, but... it's Facebook. If Facebook can go down for that long, nothing else on the Internet is safe!

I thought I would get to enjoy Thanksgiving break, but how can I enjoy it if the whole Internet seems to be disappearing at once????
matt1993: (broken link)
Well, not only is mezzacotta STILL broken (and it's been a while since the last time there was any confirmation it's being worked on), the ruins of the two newest comics are almost if not exactly identical.

This is making me even more worried. Not only is it still unclear if the comic generation code can EVER be fixed, it may be the case that even if mezzacotta is repaired such that it can display entire comics again, all comics starting with yesterday might be the exact same one over and over! :(

EDIT: Well, I've looked at the two newest comics enough to confirm that what's left of them is not EXACTLY identical. But they're still similar enough that it's making me nervous that the comic generation code is PERMANENTLY broken and may not be repairable.
matt1993: (homestar isp)
Good news? Turns out the Irregular Webcomic! forums are back up now and everything is intact!

Supposedly...

Bad news? Now you apparently have to log in just to VIEW anything on the forum. Including the news post that David Morgan-Mar says to read for "further info". So now I'm gonna have to create an account just to read the forum? :(

More bad news: mezzacotta is still broken. I can't see this comic or this comic. :(
matt1993: (enya box)
Two things I meant to post about last month but never did for whatever reason:

- On October 12 my friend and I went to the State Fair of Texas! That was fun. I was stressed about it because I'd never had a guest over other than [livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien, but it turned out well for the most part. :)
- On October 19 [livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien, [livejournal.com profile] ellaina02, and I went to a VR show!... VR demonstration? What would the right term be?

And some things I thought of to post about more recently:

- The Irregular Webcomic! forums are GONE?! Possibly FOREVER?! Which means the mezzacotta, Square Root of Minus Garfield, Lightning Made of Owls, and Comments on a Postcard forums (all of which I read a lot more than the one for IWC itself) are ALSO gone?!
While I didn't like the fact that those forums often had a lot of drama in them, with so many people overanalyzing everything (more so than in Square Root of Minus Garfield itself), arguing about what is or is not art/humor/etc., and so on, and as such haven't been to those forums in a while, there were also just enough forum threads I DID find interesting or amusing that I wanted to eventually go back and read what I missed. Now I might not be able to do that! That was such a big forum, even archive.org probably won't have EVERYTHING!
And that means that since I've linked to that forum sometimes, I'm gonna have to go back and fix ALL of those broken links to point to the archive.org versions. I WAS up to early 2018 in my slow journey to fix everything I needed to fix in my entries... now this sets me back to late 2011! :(
EDIT: Also, does today's mezzacotta (not IWC) comic show up for anyone? It doesn't for me. Nor does this one. It looks like if you put in the date for any comic that has not already been generated, it fails to load it. :(
This is the THIRD TIME (at least) that this comic has been broken in the past few years! I'm scared!

- On a happier note, yesterday I was flipping through a random catalog and in the section for bedroom sets, one of their bed designs is named after Enya. ENYA. That is awesome. Maybe I should pick that the next time I need new bed sheets!
(Also, that same catalog had a section on video games, which makes this probably the first catalog I've ever read to mention Mario AND Enya. This of course made it even better for me. I have a long history of getting disproportionately excited whenever there's a Mario reference AND an Enya reference in relatively close proximity.) :)
matt1993: (identicon from antheastrezze.com)
How typical.

Circle Versus Square, one of my favorite webcomics, went down earlier this year (or was it last year?) and was down for SO LONG that I ended up deciding that *I* will make a comprehensive list of links to what's left of the site in an easier-to-navigate format so that people who haven't read Circle Versus Square before or want to reread it (which... is there even anyone besides me who cares about this comic? I haven't seen ANYONE on the Internet mention CVS more recently than 2017!) can do so more easily.

And I sat down and, on a fairly regular basis, typed up links to the individual comics (which were somehow still up; it was just the main page that was down) and the archive.org versions of their corresponding news posts (and even replacements for some of the broken links in the news posts!) one by one. It took a while, but I made it over halfway though.

And then, out of nowhere, Wakcher finally put the site back up now. That saves me some time - SOME - but only after I've already wasted so much time compiling links to over half of the archive.

(And it doesn't help that it turns out that not only are fans of Wakcher's new project GoatVsFish making fun of anyone who still likes Circle Versus Square, but now even Wakcher himself is doing the making-fun-of now with the new header on the CVS site. :( )

Well, here's what the introduction to my replacement CVS archive would have been if I'd finished it before there was no need for it anymore:

I forget if I mentioned this already, but this year Circle Versus Square went down. AGAIN. And unlike the first time I saw it go down, it's stayed down for a LONG time instead of coming back up the next day. And I may never know why because a Google search suggests that no one besides me, not even the author himself, remembers that CVS ever existed. It's now the Mary O. of webcomics! :(

For some reason, though, it's only the individual comic pages and the custom 404 error page that are gone - other pages such as the about page, the characters page, the letters from Mr. Z, and even the archive are still up.

And it's not even possible to see the comics on archive.org, because all of the images are broken even there! Only the news posts are left!

But it turns out all the comic images ARE still hosted on the site itself! (All 216 of them - I checked!) They're just not linked to properly from the main page or archive page or anywhere on the Internet anymore. And they don't have the news posts right there with them - until now!

If the author of the comic isn't going to fix his website, I guess it's now my duty as the last remaining CVS fan to make my OWN version of the archive page with added links to the comics and news posts, to make it easier to navigate what's left of the site!

If you've never read it before, I recommend it. I bolded my personal favorites. :)

...well, since I didn't finish the list of links and don't want to post it in an unfinished state, I guess I don't get to bold or otherwise denote my favorites. Maybe I'll make a separate list of my favorite CVS strips someday.

And here's this quiz I found and took and decided I would post the result of at the bottom of the same entry:

cut because it's kind of a spoiler? )

So, I'm way too late in posting this (again), but my 26th birthday was last Sunday!!

Wow... I'm 26. I remember when it felt like it would be a LOOONG time until I was 13. Now I've waited that long twice!

What I got for my birthday:

- Piranha Plant amiibo!
- Three books I read years ago and wanted to reread: Caps For Sale, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and How to Eat Fried Worms! (Well, I thought I read them all years ago, but I'm reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing right now and everything is so unfamiliar to the point that I think I may not have actually read it years ago, I just remembered thinking the title is funny-sounding. So maybe I'm reading it for the first time now! Would you look at that!)
- They didn't come in until the 18th, but Nintendo Labo VR Goggles!!!! I've been wanting those ever since I knew about the new VR mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! :D

(note to self: put in the previous/next buttons later)

(This marks 10 years after when I did this when I turned 16, the first time I ever posted this for my birthday. Wow... I've known about this website for over ten years. And it's still around, even! Good for them!)

At age 26:

American anthropologist Margaret Mead wrote her famous dissertation, Coming of Age in Samoa, which claimed that in some societies adolescence is not a particularly difficult time.

Albert Einstein published five major research papers in a German physics journal, fundamentally changing man's view of the universe and leading to such inventions as television and the atomic bomb.

Benjamin Franklin published the first edition of Poor Richard's Almanac, which was to play a large role in molding the diverse American character.

Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Chereshkova became the first woman to travel in space.

Antoine Joseph Sax invented the brass saxophone.

"Johnny Appleseed" brought apple seeds to the Ohio Valley.

Napoleon Bonaparte conquered Italy.

Gon Yangling memorized more than 15,000 telephone numbers in Harbin, China.

Orion Krynen of Denver, CO reached this age without much incident.

British ethologist Jane Goodall set up camp in the Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Reserve on Lake Tanganyika and began studying the lives of chimpanzees.

Ken Kesey published his first novel, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Thomas Pynchon published V., for which he won the William Faulkner First Novel Award.

Kirsteene Luhrmann of Melburne, Victoria quit smoking.

Stephen Breen from Dublin, Ireland found this site.

Darren Blackburn became the first and only athlete of the Principality of Sealand, despite being somewhat lacking in athletic ability.

Syd Jesus co-founded the dUdU Art Collective in Oakland, California and turned an entire warehouse space into a conceptual art piece entitled "The $5000 Gallery."

Matthew Royer took a dog for a walk every day of the year in Minnesota, with a coldest daytime high of 0 degrees F. The average walk time was 30 minutes.

Derrick Pallas was horrified to realize he was losing his hair, just like Dad.

Jan Birkeland from Norway managed to get to work without hitting a single red light.

Katherine Blauvelt in a skirt was deemed "all grown-up" by her boyfriend.

Kristen finally was able to get her fingernails to grow without chipping and peeling because she started taking a multi-vitamin on a daily basis.

Tom Pemberton rode a bicycle with lit fireworks strapped to it into a pool while wearing a banana costume.

SJ Yee resigned from a giant multinational corporation to found a personal development site for the book smart.

Angie Olson got so drunk on her 26th birthday, her friends were able to dress her up as a clown.

[personal profile] matt1993 discovered the two mysterious lost episodes of Super Mario Maker Crash Course.

...

Okay, okay, that last one's not on the list. But it SHOULD be! I have a story behind that. Stay tuned for when I write a full post about it!
matt1993: [a GIF from the Super Mario Maker electronic manual showing Mary O. pushing a cart filled with coins, with Yamamura the pigeon riding on top] (mary o. coins)
(Yes, I'm probably going to be posting about my favorite manual guide a lot more than usual for a while, what with Super Mario Maker 2 coming out this month and Mary O.'s fate still unclear and still not looking good.
I apologize in advance because that means these posts are probably going to get even more annoying than usual.
But I recently discovered that I seem to be the biggest Mary O. fanboy in the world if stuff from my own journal shows up so often in Google searches for her, so hey, I may as well embrace it!)

Well, with SMM2 coming out this month and Mary O.'s fate-- oh wait, I said that already in the disclaimer.

To make a long story short:

Notice how I FINALLY have a userpic with Mary O. in it? (I mean, I did have Enya dressed as Mary O. as a userpic, but I FINALLY have one with Mary O. herself!) :D

I also made these ones, but I won't upload them as userpics until I know they're legible enough. So, I ask you: Are these ones legible?

I've been wanting to make userpics with Mary O. in them for YEARS now, but until now I never got around to it. Mainly because I had the dumb idea of saving all of my userpic ideas - Mary O. or otherwise - for the next time I got around to making another poll asking which ones you wanted me to make. Which no one likely would have voted on because it would've been too long to read.

And the fact that Mary O. is seemingly being replaced in Super Mario Maker 2 is making me sad about it... and the fact that Nintendo has deleted EVERY trace of Mary O.'s memory from the official site (e.g. the online manual and Super Mario Maker Crash Course) is making me even MORE sad about it... thank goodness the Internet Wayback Machine saved SMM Crash Course and kind of saved the manual!

So I figured, if Nintendo is not going to keep Mary O. or Super Mario Maker Crash Course around forever, then I'll just have to immortalize the best Mary O. and Yamamura moments myself (the ones that'd make userpics I'm sure I'll have a use for, anyway).

Is ANYONE able to see the following mezzacotta strips?

http://mezzacotta.net/archive.php?date=-17-05-22
http://mezzacotta.net/archive.php?date=17-05-22
http://mezzacotta.net/archive.php?date=-18-05-23
http://mezzacotta.net/archive.php?date=18-05-23

(Pro tip: Don't try to load them all at once in four separate tabs - I find that the comics have always been less likely to show up if I try and open more than one at a time.)

And if not, is ANYONE able to see at least one strip that is not linked to from the hall of fame or cast page? (Strips that are read more often usually load faster, and I know at least two in the hall of fame still load for me, so I'm less concerned about the ones in the hall of fame.)

If you find one that works, link to it in the comments so I can test whether or not I can see it.

(Also I feel I should note that if you do see a comic but there's no dialogue in it, that does not mean the comic didn't finish loading. Since mezzacotta is a randomly generated comic, that's a fairly normal occurence. Incidentally, that particular strip is in the hall of fame and as such it does load for me.)

It's December now? GOOD!! Because at least there's one New Year's meme I can get out of the way now, six days before I get too distracted playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to remember to do it. :)

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2018. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

January 2018

I think there's a glitch in my copy of Windows 7. It says today's date is "1/1/2018". I thought the year 2018 didn't exist - didn't the world end in 2017?

February 2018

YES! I'm FINALLY done fixing all of my entries in 2007-2010! (Hopefully...)

March 2018

It's Friday already and not Tuesday or Wednesday... but at least this is still the most regular feature I've had in my journal since the weekly Garfield Randomizer comics in 2009!

(This, of course, is about my weekly Miiverse backup entries... which of course did not remain a regular feature for long...)

April 2018

https://www.mariowiki.com/Mary_O._and_Yamamura:_The_Movie

May 2018

So I found this two-part YouTube video called "500 Characters I Want In Smash Bros. Switch"...

June 2018

About time I posted some more of these. Once again, I meant to post them last week...

July 2018

- On June 14 or 15 or so I saw The Incredibles 2, then saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom a week or two later! I liked both :)

August 2018

It took four days (more than that if you count the time I spent putting it off), but I'm finally done fixing one of my longest and most cringeworthy entries ever! :D

September 2018

Well... it's September 4. So Sunday was the first anniversary of the day I was finally motivated - by a glitch LJ had for about three weeks where a lot of images were suddenly broken in entries - to finally get around to fixing the broken images AND everything else I wanted to fix in my entries on both LJ and DW.

October 2018

WARNING: I am extremely depressed and therefore this entry is going to make no sense whatsoever because I am physically incapable of wording an opinion very well when I am depressed.

November 2018

[livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien stayed at my apartment for a while; in that time we watched the How To Train Your Dragon TV show! (Specifically, the third of the three shows there were. P_A, what was the third show called again? Dragons: Race to the Edge.) We made it to season 4. :) Have any of you watched it?

December 2018

It's December now? GOOD!! Because at least there's one New Year's meme I can get out of the way now, six days before I get too distracted playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to remember to do it. :)

Quick update

Wed, Oct. 31st, 2018 01:09
matt1993: (uChIN RA G (you chin rag))
Today (well, yesterday because it's 1:09 AM) was my first anniversary as a direct employee at work! :)

I was going to post some other things I'd been meaning to mention, but now this is the one that's on my mind the most so I'm gonna briefly post about just this one so I can kinda get it off my chest:

Just now I discovered that TWO YouTube channels I'd at some point seen a couple of videos of, liked those videos, and wanted to watch more of eventually have ended recently... one (Etika) is actually GONE now, and the other (cobanermani456) is still there but no new videos will be made, apparently because of a controversy that spiraled out of something that sounds a lot like mistakes I have made in the past...

THIS IS FREAKING ME OUT NOW. Just like earlier this year when I found out that THREE webcomics I wanted to read were gone now.

ANYTHING I LIKE CAN BE TAKEN DOWN AT ANY MOMENT. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY REASON NOT TO PANIC.

Progress?

It took four days (more than that if you count the time I spent putting it off), but I'm finally done fixing one of my longest and most cringeworthy entries ever! :D

Now I just have 449 to go... I hope there aren't many more that are as long as that one. Off the top of my head I can already think of 18 more entries that are going to take a while to fix. :(

I'm glad most of my entries aren't that long... I couldn't bear the thought of it taking another 4×449=1,796 days to fix all my entries. By July 5, 2023 (1,796 days from now) everyone probably will have left both LJ and DW and moved to a third website, and all my work would be for nothing. And every webcomic I ever read would be gone by then. :(
matt1993: (Default)
SOMEONE on here sure has been falling behind on his promise to archive a few more of his Miiverse posts on LJ and DW every-- oh wait, that someone is me, isn't it... :P

If I'd been on schedule, this entry would've been posted between June 17 and 23, 2018. It's kind of hard to motivate myself to post these sometimes because I have to write the DW version of the entry, have that automatically be cross-posted to LJ, and then edit the LJ version to use the LJ copies of all the images (community icons, handwritten posts, tiny icons like the one for Yeahs, etc.)...

Hopefully it'll become easier now, though... Recently I made a little program where I can write the LJ and DW versions of an entry simultaneously, where I type into one text box and the program copies it into separate text boxes for LJ and DW; it copies text into both text boxes until it gets to a "▌" character (meaning everything until the next "▐" or "█" should be on LJ only), a "▐" character (meaning everything until the next "▌" or "█" should be on DW only), or a "█" character (meaning everything until the next "▌" or "▐" should be on both). For instance, the last word in this sentence is different on here from what it is on LiveJournal. The use of left/right half block characters makes sense to me because I typically put LJ-related tabs on the left side of my screen and DW-related tabs on the right so I can tell them apart. :)

(Though this one still took a while. Maybe I need to modify my program to add shortcuts specifically to make these Miiverse backup posts easier by making it so that if I type ☺Y☻ or ☺SSB4☻ or ☺:O☻, for instance, it'll be replaced with the Yeahs icon or the SSB4 community icon or my Mii's shocked expression, complete with it being the LJ version on LJ and the DW version on DW?)

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U Community
Matt 06/17/2013 10:54 PM

5 10

(In addition to my first Miiverse post in over a month, this was also my first one in the Super Smash Bros. series community. The backup Nintendo sent me incorrectly says these are in the Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U community, but that was the community created after the game was released, which I never posted in because by then I'd already become sick of Miiverse; the SSB series community was created after the Villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer reveals at E3 and existed until the game was released.

Oh boy, I remember the SSB community... )

Two more things to point out: This had the second-most comments of any of my posts on Miiverse - surpassed only by that surprisingly popular "unlikely vine, likely vine" one - and was my first Miiverse post to end up having more comments than Yeahs.)

I don't know why I merely said that there was a trend of people drawing "stuff" in Yoshi's Fruit Cart if the only pictures I remember anyone drawing in that game were of their Miis. (And this was my last post in the New Super Mario Bros. U community, excluding posts about New Super Luigi U - and my only post in that community to be about Challenge Mode instead of the main adventure. Makes sense since I'd already gotten all 5 stars in the main adventure.

This was probably also my most obscure joke throughout my entire history on Miiverse, too... if you don't know what the Riemann hypothesis is, all you need to know to understand my joke is that it's a certain mathy thing that is probably true, but so difficult to definitively prove that so far no one has been able to do so. I guess I was hoping that people would at least know that, but I was wrong. This is about the only reason I know what it is, in fact.

Back to NSMBU... I still don't think I've 100% completed all of the challenges in Challenge Mode - I'm pretty sure there's still some I haven't beaten, with gold medals or otherwise.

Which New Super Mario Bros. U levels did I post about the most?

OF COURSE the week I noticed that a bunch of Photobucket images that used to be broken are suddenly back for whatever reason is ALSO the same week that I find out that Irish Breakfast, yet another one of the many webcomics I want to read someday that I discovered through a long chain of webcomics being linked to from other webcomics I'd stumbled upon, is gone now. Before I got to read it.

...Oh wow, turns out the situation is even worse than I thought it was when I started writing this entry. At least TWO webcomics I wanted to read are gone now that weren't before, because I had to find the URL for Bitmap World so I could link to it just now and it turns out it was taken down as well (but last year rather than last month). :( (And of course it HAD to be Bitmap World... in the chain of webcomics from Square Root of Minus Garfield to Request Comics that led to me discovering Irish Breakfast, Bitmap World was the only one where I still had yet to read anything except the "characters from other webcomics, including Irregular Webcomic! and Terror Island, in Bitmap World style" page and a couple other miscellaneous non-comic pages.)

At least they're both on archive.org... I'm so dependent on archive.org nowadays. If archive.org itself ever went down, I would probably DIE. If it had never existed, I probably would've died LAST YEAR. :(

Why do so many webcomic authors feel like they need to take down their stuff??? Every time that happens, I have to go visit whatever other websites I like that I can think of off the top of my head just to see if any of them are ALSO gone! O_O

So, as a tribute to Bitmap World, here's a list of all the webcomics I can think of that I wouldn't know about if they hadn't drawn both Irregular Webcomic! and Terror Island characters in their style: (NOTE TO SELF: make these links when I have the time to do so)

Bitmap World itself
Terror Island
Triangle and Robert (which is another one that's went down but I knew about that already, and it's one of the few to go down AFTER I got to read it all the way through)
FOMS
Request Comics
tiny ghosts
Irish Breakfast
Nutflix (I haven't read that either but wanted to, but I checked just now and I think that's also gone now. THAT MAKES THREE. :( )
Tall Comics (I haven't read that either but want to)
I know there's at least one more but I don't have the time to try and find the name of it.

!?!?!?!

So, you know how about a year ago Photobucket changed their Terms of Service so that users had to pay $400 a year for their images to be visible anywhere other than Photobucket itself, and sometimes it wasn't even visible there?

And you know that made me upset because even though I've never used Photobucket for image hosting, a lot of things online I wanted to catch up on someday have used Photobucket, and that would mean I'd never get to finish catching up on them?

And you know how I've made various jabs at Photobucket because of it such as claiming that Photobucket managed to even take down my userpics on LJ but not on DW (or vice versa depending on what site you read my April Fools entries on) and being like "These people think Quidd is the worst company ever - haven't they ever heard of Photobucket?!"

Um.

So today I was working on fixing my old entries, and I got to one* that does have an image hosted on Photobucket in it (because it was uploaded by [personal profile] glowing_dragon, not me), and... IT SHOWS UP.

Then I went to a couple of other places on the Internet that I'd been to before that I knew had Photobucket images in them because they became broken when Photobucket changed their TOS.

THOSE IMAGES SHOW UP NOW TOO. (I haven't seen any "3rd-party hosting disabled" placeholder images, anyway - images that users have deleted entirely are obviously still gone.)

...

I need to ask...

Did, uh...

DID PHOTOBUCKET FINALLY COME TO THEIR SENSES?! I'd Google it to find out for myself but I'm too afraid of finding more online drama that'll upset me. (Yes, even when I thought Photobucket was the one company that actually deserved the hate it was getting for changing their TOS, I still couldn't always bear to read it.)

Even the thought that Photobucket MIGHT have realized their mistake is so surreal... I feel like I'm dreaming. I might as well act like this is all a dream, but I can't do that right now because I'm supposed to take Enya to see another Enya perform live at 103:206 PM. :P

*Note: yes, that entry mentions that I was doing an MS Paint meme but I gave up on that years ago because I procrastinated it for so long and felt overwhelmed by it. :(

TWENTY-FIVE!

I've been trying to cut down on the "express everything I want to say by editing Garfield or other comics and/or making stuff with my sprites" thing that I did on LJ a lot in 2012-2013 or so, but I just HAD to make THIS one:

(Original Garfield strip: June 19, 2003)

Hmm... Seeing those three versions of myself in one room like that really makes it stand out that the modern sprite version of myself has a skin tone noticeably darker than my real skin tone. Oh well.

Garfaversary

I'm two days behind in posting about this (I don't post about ANYTHING the day it happens anymore, apparently...) but happy 40th anniversary, Garfield! :)

I still remember back when Garfield's 25th anniversary was pretty recent. I was REALLY obsessed with Garfield in that era (2003-2004)... I can't believe that era was fifteen years ago. (Or that, interestingly enough, I'm going to be 25 in less than a month!)

Mini-rant time: I kinda don't like how there are soooo many people nowadays (especially authors of other comics I like) who think that Garfield is objectively never funny, or objectively less funny than it used to be, or what have you... because of them (and especially because of how, at least in 2013-2015 or so, Square Root of Minus Garfield steadily became less about what I liked about it - surreal, often mathematical mashups of Garfield strips - and more of a place for people to edit Garfield comics to insult fans of whatever they don't like, which is more often than not Garfield itself), I feel like I'm not allowed to like what I like. Not even the fact that I know there's plenty of Garfield fans in my LJ friends list keeps me from worrying about it. :( And yes, a big part of why I'm posting this entry is so hopefully I can finally get this off my chest after worrying about it sporadically for the past several years.

EDIT: And now that the YouTube video that made me worry about this the most recently and motivated me to post a mini-rant like this showed up in related videos a second time, might as well link to it in this entry.

It's hard to describe this journal in just a few paragraphs... but I'll try

Just an autistic guy born in 1993 (hence the username) who's had this journal since I was 14. Has trouble phrasing things well especially in earlier entries, so keep that in mind.

My interests have fluctuated in the 17 years since I've had this journal, but the following has remained constant:
- I like Mario games (mainly the platformers, Mario Kart, Mario Party) and Super Smash Bros.
- I like Garfield
- I like Homestar Runner
- I like Enya
- And I've always loved the idea of wacky crossovers between ANY of my interests, whether it's in the form of a short-lived webcomic in 2006-2008, a short-lived backwards lyrics site in 2008, writing down weird dreams in 2009-2011, playing Tomodachi Life a lot in 2014-2016, or what most of my posts are about these days: playing around with Character.AI starting in 2023. I still can't believe I'm actually in a world where an AI of Enya can talk to AIs of Mario or Garfield or even my favorite obscure characters like Mary O. from Super Mario Maker. :O
