Whatever Matt Feels Like Posting

Welp, the fact that it's actually 2020 - THE 2020, the year my childhood self was always waiting for - felt pretty surreal for about a week or so. But 2020 quickly went from being a "Vegas Stakes Renaissance" to feeling just like any other recent year: full of me worrying about Internet drama and the possibility of Internet stuff I wanted to see going down.



I don't want to know how I'm going to end up feeling if 2020 ends up being a bad year overall for me. I've been waiting for this year for my entire life (well, except for that period when I all but forgot Vegas Stakes was a thing). I'm LITERALLY in the future, according to my childhood. I need this year to be worth the wait!


So here's a list of some things I'm hoping to do this year, in no particular order, in an attempt to make 2020 a good year for me overall:


1) My decision to revisit Vegas Stakes after all these years also gave me the idea to revisit OTHER games that I also haven't thought about or played in a long time. In particular, I really want to play all of these games at least once this year, if I can:

It's 2019 now. So according to Vegas Stakes for the SNES (and Game Boy apparently), there's only one more year to go until it is OFFICIALLY the future!



Wow. When I played this game as a kid (it was probably my second-favorite SNES game after Super Mario World... how I've never mentioned it on here until now, I don't know), 2020 felt so far away. Now it's only a year away... Wow.


Unfortunately, the fact that it's 2019 ALSO means that there's only one year left (or MAYBE two?) for me to watch everything that's in Flash that I wanted to watch but haven't watched! O_O

Being obsessed with a) mezzacotta, the randomly generated webcomic that's (retroactively) been around since 9999999999999 BC, and b) nerdy math-related stuff, I thought of an idea for a LJ/DW meme that incorporates both! Back in July or so. Why didn't I post it until now? For that matter, I'm surprised I didn't think of this meme before July 2017.

Anyway...

1) Look at the mezzacotta strip from your birthdate:

2) Look at the strip(s) from the day you joined LJ and/or DW and/or any other blogging site you use regularly - if you don't know when that is, you can go to your profile and find out (at least for LJ and DW):

3) Optionally, also look at the strip(s) from any other dates that are significant to you!
I'll skip this step, though - while there are many other dates that are significant to me for whatever reason, I think I'll just use my birthdate and the dates I joined LJ/DW for this.

4) Put in the same dates from steps 1-3 again but with AD changed to BC. You can do this just by putting a minus sign before the year in the URL:

5) Put in the dates from steps 1-4 again, but replace the years with the last two digits of them:

(Any time I say to replace the year with a number that isn't a year like your user ID, do this for both BC and AD if the AD version exists [i.e. the number is between 1 and the current year]. If it doesn't - which it won't 99.9% of the time - then just use BC.)

If any of these methods gives you an invalid date:
Year with leading zeroes - remove the leading zeroes.
Year is 0 - use 9999999999999 BC (13 nines), 1 BC, and/or 1 AD instead. Or, if this happens in step 5, replacing it with 100 BC/AD makes sense too.
February 29 in a year that doesn't have one - use February 28 and/or March 1 of that year instead.

Um, 1993 is not the future! :)

So I'm up to 485 words in my HAS essay now, and there are some things that pathvain_aelien suggested I talk about but I haven't been able to work into the essay yet, which will likely eventually add in the remaining 15 words. Then I'll have to draw the future space shuttle I talked about. Blah.

2009 has been a very depressing year, and because I still have eight more HAS assignments and the final after this (assuming the apocalypse isn't March 25 [it's been forever since I actually linked to that dream]), 2010 will too, at least at first. :(
