I can't believe it.

I'm over 80% done fixing my entries. AND I've finally fixed all of my entries from 2016!!! (Fun fact: while keeping count in the process, I noticed that the first time I ever mentioned Mary O. in this journal was in my 1,111th entry. Would you look at that!)

I wish I hadn't had to waste two years just to get this done, but I'm a lot more hopeful now because it's getting done!!! I'm almost up to the entries written AFTER I joined DW! :D

Of course, after this I'm still gonna need to update my profile on both LJ and DW for the first time in a while and make a new updated glossary/list of userpics/FAQ sticky entry.
I think it's about time for me to start thinking some more about what I need to add or remove from my FAQ.
Well, mostly on what to add to it - several people have made it clear to me when I asked about this a couple of years back that a lot of the questions that are in there are pointless since no one's thought about asking them (and it made me feel really weird about myself when people suggested removing them), so I'm going to remove them. (To the few of you who liked the fact that those questions are in there: Don't worry, I'll keep the current version of the FAQ in a non-sticky entry as well for posterity and link to it from the new version as the answer to something like "What happened to the old FAQ?")

What are some questions that you've had about me or my journal and have wanted to ask me? This can include ones that are answered by the FAQ already or not (in fact, it'd be better if you pretend for right now that I don't have a FAQ at all yet). It can be ones that you still don't know the answer to or ones that you found the answer to eventually. Or if there's something about me or my journal that you understood but think others might not and that it'd be helpful to have that in the FAQ, you can even list that.

But no suggestions about which ones to remove from my FAQ, please - it's already a given that I'm going to be removing or condensing most of them. Let's focus more on what should be in it than what shouldn't be. :)

So this is something I kind of talked about in a recent entry, but there was a bunch of other stuff in that entry and also I have more to say about this topic, so:

As I said in that entry, I somehow now have huge crushes on Charlotte AND Maria from Castlevania - to an extent that by now is almost on par with my crush on Mary O.! Even though I've never played a Castlevania game, and hence the only reason I know about them is because they're spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

It's not the first time I've found female characters I only know about because of non-playable appearances in SSB attractive... but this is my first time having THIS big a crush on any of them!

Left: half of my thought processes over the past few weeks. Right: the other half.

I have three questions to ask because of this:

1) Have any of you ever had a huge crush on TWO characters from a fandom you're not even into (or weren't into at the time)? If so, please let me know so I can stop feeling so weird about it. :)

At this rate I'm thinking I definitely need to eventually actually start playing some of the Castlevania games just so I can justify having huge crushes on TWO Castlevania characters. So:

2) Does it make me a dork that THIS is at least 60% of the reason I'm now considering getting into Castlevania?

3) Are any of you Castlevania fans, or do any of you know someone who is? If not, the contents of this LJ-cut will be of no interest to you; I'm just asking for recommendations on which game to try first )

I've had a rough few weeks but am too lazy to post a full entry about it right now, so I'll at least let you guys now I'm still here.

Is ANYONE able to see the following mezzacotta strips?

(Pro tip: Don't try to load them all at once in four separate tabs - I find that the comics have always been less likely to show up if I try and open more than one at a time.)

And if not, is ANYONE able to see at least one strip that is not linked to from the hall of fame or cast page? (Strips that are read more often usually load faster, and I know at least two in the hall of fame still load for me, so I'm less concerned about the ones in the hall of fame.)

If you find one that works, link to it in the comments so I can test whether or not I can see it.

(Also I feel I should note that if you do see a comic but there's no dialogue in it, that does not mean the comic didn't finish loading. Since mezzacotta is a randomly generated comic, that's a fairly normal occurence. Incidentally, that particular strip is in the hall of fame and as such it does load for me.)

There's going to be a Super Mario Maker 2 for the Switch?!

Typical YouTube commenter's reaction: "YES!!! Nintendo FINALLY added slopes to Super Mario Maker!!!"

The reaction of losers who somehow managed to develop an over-three-year-long crush on a random character from a video game MANUAL: "YES!!! Mary O. is FINALLY going to be in another game after nearly three years!!!... uh, she will, right?! I'm gonna be so mad if this game doesn't have an electronic manual..."

And now, a glitch very similar to the one I freaked out about earlier is happening - I can't access any page on LJ that begins with now. So individual journals and profiles work (except certain stylesheets are missing so they look different), but not my inbox or things like that.

I'm very scared right now. I'm pretty sure LJ is going to go down forever at any moment. :O

...wait, it works now. But still, I'm getting scared now. :O
matt1993: (conga of the apocalypse)
(First off, unrelated to this entry, but before I forget: thanks everyone for all the well-wishes on my previous friends-only entry!)

Good news: I've finally fixed all my entries from 2007-2014!

EDIT: My LJ actually started working again after about the second refresh after I posted this. But I left this entry as is until about 20 hours later because I thought it might stop working again. That, and I wanted to leave it up as a testament to how LJ and DW outages (especially ones that somehow only affect my own journal and profile) don't have to be very long before I panic and have to post entries like this one.
matt1993: (celery!!)

New Super Mario Bros. U "Deluxe" is out today...

The Super Crown singlehandedly broke the Internet long before its official debut... Now it HAS officially debuted...

This is scary. VERY scary.

Today is the worst possible day to be a Mario fan that doesn't like that stupid meme. I still am a Mario fan, of course, but never before have I been so ashamed that my favorite video game franchise led to THAT.

In here I rant about that meme again and ramble about the fact that I was considering temporarily removing ALL Mario references from my profile just to spite the people who are into that meme, especially the ones who seem to HATE anyone who dislikes it. And in here I once again mention a certain *other* Mario powerup that *I'm* obsessed with, so if you don't like reading about that then skip this )

I have no idea how much sense this makes... it's just that all I can think about is how annoyed I am that this meme is still around and how annoyed I am that I'm powerless to do anything about it. I felt like I needed to vent about this somehow...

My 2018 in LJ

Sun, Jan. 6th, 2019 04:39
matt1993: (broken link)

Apparently the image that's automatically generated by this feature doesn't stay around forever - it gets replaced every year with the next year's version, so my "2017 in LJ" entry is now showing the 2018 stats. Lame... So if you're reading this a year or more later, my actual 2018 stats were 126 entries posted and 948 comments and likes received.

I don't like it when things get deleted or replaced after only one year or less. If took that approach, only one Strong Bad Email would still be on the site by now and it's one that isn't technically counted as a sbemail. If Super Smash Bros. took that approach, NONE of the characters that are in it would be there because all of them - even the most-recently-created ones like Inkling, Corrin, and Incineroar - debuted at least two years before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate came out. </rant>

← 2017

In other news, I've fixed over 1,000 entries! Yay! :D
matt1993: (conga of the apocalypse)
It's 2019 now. So according to Vegas Stakes for the SNES (and Game Boy apparently), there's only one more year to go until it is OFFICIALLY the future!

Wow. When I played this game as a kid (it was probably my second-favorite SNES game after Super Mario World... how I've never mentioned it on here until now, I don't know), 2020 felt so far away. Now it's only a year away... Wow.

Unfortunately, the fact that it's 2019 ALSO means that there's only one year left (or MAYBE two?) for me to watch everything that's in Flash that I wanted to watch but haven't watched! O_O

Happy New Year everyone!
matt1993: (rip van fish)
So depressed right now. I don't think I'm gonna be able to sleep tonight because today I found out that yet another YouTube channel I'd found out about (thanks to Quidd) and kinda wanted to check out eventually is controversial - SSSniperWolf. And knowing about this makes me keep thinking about the Etika and cobanermani456 things again and worrying that I'll be hated for liking any of these channels, or wanting to see more of their videos (or any of their videos, as I haven't actually watched SSSniperWolf yet). Same thing with YouTube channels that became controversial before this year like PewdiePie and JonTron...

Are any of you going to dislike or judge me for wanting to see these channels? If not, please say so even if you feel like you'd be repeating something you've already said. I can't take this depression much longer...

Could someone more emotionally stable than me please research what these controversies are really all about and tell me what actually happened? (EDIT: I should clarify, I mean aside from the PewdiePie and JonTron ones as I think I know what those were about... but is it lame that I had no idea until I asked someone about those?) I've tried looking them up myself but didn't get far because a) it made me depressed easily and b) I know that I'm going to hear at least two sides to each story and not know which one is actually true, and be hated if I think the one that isn't true is true (which I'm told I have done already regarding cobanermani456).

Merry Christmas, all!

There, I posted it while it's still Christmas. I wanted to make a proper post today about what I got and gave for Chrismtas but I was distracted playing Super Smash Bros. all day. Lol.
matt1993: (Default)
I'm done fixing all of my entries from 2013! (unless there's something I missed...) Just five more years' worth of entries (and then community entries and such...) to go! :D

Also, I got Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Friday! Thanks, [ profile] pathvain_aelien! :)
matt1993: [an edited photo of Enya, with a slightly different version of Mary O.'s clothes drawn over hers and in front of a yellow Super Mario Maker background] (enya as mary o.)
You know what's even nerdier and niche-ier than writing an entire entry about a hypothetical Super Smash Bros. moveset for the guide to a video game manual?

Writing TWO entries about a moveset for the guide to a game manual, of course! :P

I wrote that first entry about Mary O. & Yamamura's made-up moveset shortly before the E3 reveal of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and since then I've thought of some updates to make to it based on what was revealed about the actual game... enough that I'm gonna have to bore everyone with another entry about it so I don't have to keep getting distracted thinking about the idea! Since the actual game comes out this week, now seems like the right time. :)

In the unlikely event that you're interested in reading this entry but haven't read the first one yet, I'd recommend reading that one first. Because in this entry I mostly only describe the changes I made, without repeating anything I decided to leave unchanged.

It's December now? GOOD!! Because at least there's one New Year's meme I can get out of the way now, six days before I get too distracted playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to remember to do it. :)

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2018. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

January 2018

I think there's a glitch in my copy of Windows 7. It says today's date is "1/1/2018". I thought the year 2018 didn't exist - didn't the world end in 2017?

February 2018

YES! I'm FINALLY done fixing all of my entries in 2007-2010! (Hopefully...)

March 2018

It's Friday already and not Tuesday or Wednesday... but at least this is still the most regular feature I've had in my journal since the weekly Garfield Randomizer comics in 2009!

(This, of course, is about my weekly Miiverse backup entries... which of course did not remain a regular feature for long...)

April 2018

May 2018

So I found this two-part YouTube video called "500 Characters I Want In Smash Bros. Switch"...

June 2018

About time I posted some more of these. Once again, I meant to post them last week...

July 2018

- On June 14 or 15 or so I saw The Incredibles 2, then saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom a week or two later! I liked both :)

August 2018

It took four days (more than that if you count the time I spent putting it off), but I'm finally done fixing one of my longest and most cringeworthy entries ever! :D

September 2018

Well... it's September 4. So Sunday was the first anniversary of the day I was finally motivated - by a glitch LJ had for about three weeks where a lot of images were suddenly broken in entries - to finally get around to fixing the broken images AND everything else I wanted to fix in my entries on both LJ and DW.

October 2018

WARNING: I am extremely depressed and therefore this entry is going to make no sense whatsoever because I am physically incapable of wording an opinion very well when I am depressed.

November 2018

[ profile] pathvain_aelien stayed at my apartment for a while; in that time we watched the How To Train Your Dragon TV show! (Specifically, the third of the three shows there were. P_A, what was the third show called again? Dragons: Race to the Edge.) We made it to season 4. :) Have any of you watched it?

December 2018

It's December now? GOOD!! Because at least there's one New Year's meme I can get out of the way now, six days before I get too distracted playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to remember to do it. :)

***WARNING: Nearly two years later, I'm STILL in the process of fixing everything in my entries that didn't import correctly from LJ to DW. As of April 2019 I'm actually getting pretty close to being done, but still, I MAKE NO GUARANTEES THAT ANY ENTRY WRITTEN BETWEEN OCTOBER 6, 2016 AND MAY 13, 2017 MAKES SENSE HERE (or any other entry, in a way, but ESPECIALLY ones in that timeframe). Especially if there are supposed to be videos in it because sometimes the wrong videos show up (thankfully I haven't seen that happen in a while; it's mostly just been "invalid embed-id" messages instead now), or if a userpic made in 2013 or later is supposed to be on it because those all seem to have been reverted to the default somehow on DW except in comments.***

If I had to pick six words to describe myself, I would panic and ask someone for help because I am so downright random and weird that there is no possible way to describe myself or my journal in only six words.

So here's a list of things you'll probably see in this journal, in no particular order:
- Posts about my life
- Posts about my worrying about being disliked for any number of reasons
- Posts about the fact that I'm trying to fix all the things that are messed up in my LJ and DW and catch up on lots of websites that I'm behind on reading
- Backups of my posts on Miiverse now that Miiverse is discontinued... so if you want to know what some random guy was saying about New Super Mario Bros. U or Nintendo Land five years ago, this is the journal for you :P
- Quizzes and surveys and such
- References to random things I'm obsessed with
- Whatever else I feel like posting

Some of the random things I'm obsessed with are:
- LiveJournal (obviously)
- Looking back at things that were made years ago... old posts on LJ, etc.
- Math
- Weird dreams
- Video games (mostly Mario, Super Smash Bros., Kid Icarus, and Chip's Challenge)
- Video game music
- Homestar Runner
- Enya, my favorite singer and biggest celebrity crush
- Too many comics/webcomics to name... Garfield, mezzacotta, Terror Island, and Circle Versus Square might be the ones I'm the MOST obsessed with though. Oh, and Super Mario Maker Crash Course - that counts as a comic, right? It certainly counts as something I'm obsessed with :P
- Speaking of Super Mario Maker Crash Course, my biggest *fictional* crush is Mary O. Yes, I have a crush on the guide to a video game MANUAL. I'm so weird...

For a (hopefully) complete list of interests and Q&A about me, visit my profile. :) (Which is still in need of an update...)

This journal is semi-friends-only, but there's not much rhyme or reason to which entries are public and which ones aren't...

Can someone explain what 'Expand Cut Tags' is for?
