YES! I had a feeling they would listen to Wikipedia, Google, and so on! Dunno if anyone in Congress saw some of my replaced userpics too, but I'll keep pretending they did :P

Starting tomorrow, I'm gonna change the userpics I did manage to replace back to normal, although the darkened versions will remain in my userpic space until a) we find out for sure that the compromise won't be just as bad (which I doubt it will, but still...) or b) I run out of room for normal userpics (which will take a while, as I'd need over 120 more for that to happen).

I'll also continue to make more, because even if SOPA did not ruin my life by making it impossible to ever finish my creative vortexes, the darkened userpics still count as at least 300* new creative vortexes that I've gotta get rid of. They just won't be my highest priority for now.

To celebrate, I'm gonna type as many words and phrases that SOPA's too-vague wording could have cracked down on my use of despite them being fair use or not even trademarked as I can in 10 minutes:

Mario. Luigi. Peach. Daisy. Yoshi. Homestar. Strong Bad. The Cheat. Neopets. Aisha. Acara. Poogle. Illusen. Fyora. Jhudora. Garfield. Odie. Jon. Liz. Nermal. Arlene. Pooky. Lyman. Time's up. I managed 172 (if I counted right), although there were a few times that I paused because what first came to mind would have been a bizarre juxtaposition had I written it down right away (though apparently not always, as I put Mocorono Nodle next to Bilbo, Pac-Man next to Celine Dion and Grey's Anatomy next to Dr. Octagonapus & Watch).

*It's been a while since I counted how many unmade normal userpic ideas I have and added them to the amount I've already uploaded...

EDIT ON MAY 12, 2018: THIS IS THE OLD VERSION OF MY GLOSSARY... or at least the oldest version that was a sticky entry rather than on my profile, anyway. THE NEW GLOSSARY IS... nowhere, yet, but I'm going to FINALLY get around to updating this glossary for the first time in years after I'm done fixing all my entries on both LJ and DW.

I made this sticky entry in 2011, but then I didn't update it much after that and left it outdated for nearly SEVEN YEARS - long enough that I decide I might as well preserve the old version of the glossary, but make it no longer sticky in favor of a NEW sticky entry with the updated glossary.

Everything below this point is as the entry originally appeared, except I got rid of the lj-like buttons. The former subject line was simply "Glossary of Matt1993isms".

----

I finally got around to updating this glossary and moving it to a sticky post so that it wouldn't clutter up my profile and I could have LJ-cuts to jump to certain sections!

Although the whole point of these multiple LJ-cuts is for ease of navigation (i.e. if I reference a Matt1993ism in the definition of a Matt1993ism in a different section, I'd link to the proper section), I haven't had the time to actually go through and add all these links, so stay tuned for that. I also thought about adding artwork for certain entries *cough*/crazymegavideo/*cough*, so stay tuned for that too. :)

As I said in the old glossary, if you spot a Matt1993ism I used that I haven't defined here, or if FoxReplace messes up the "pucker up because it's time for lunch" entry again, etc., please let me know :)

EDIT: Added some more Matt1993isms and tags, but still need to add the links and artwork. I'm also pretty sure there was another Matt1993ism that I still forgot to add...

Too bad I don't have a Matt1993ism that has to do with reposting

http://homokaasu.org/gematriculator/

Input text or a URL and it searches for patterns throughout it, such as the amount of words, the amount of words beginning with a vowel, the numerical values of the letters, etc. Numbers found that are multiples of 7 or have digits that add to multiples of 7 are considered "good" and numbers that are or add to multiples of 13 or 666 are considered "evil". (I dunno if it searches for any other spiritually significant numbers.) Then it gives you a percentage of "good" and "evil" and a rundown of the 7's, 13's, and 666's found.

Interesting ones I've found so far:

"Holy whole hand dealer" - 97% evil. Not very holy, apparently.
"666", "six six six", and "six hundred sixty-six" are strangely all half and half. "Six sixty-six" is, even more ironically, 99% good. "Frozen pets", which appeared in the same dream as the number 666, is also 99% good. So is "Om nom nom nom", which has three 666's in phone number form.
"PrtSc Land" - 87% evil. <sarcasm>What a surprise.</sarcasm>
Its own description, despite claiming to give results that are "absolutely correct", is 29% evil. That's why I'm saying these are "interesting ones" rather than "revelations" or somesuch.
"Chuck Norris" - unsurprisingly, 98% evil
"Dr. Octagonapus" is 99% evil (apparently just from the title Dr.), yet "Shoop Da Woop" is 99% good.
"Procrastination" is 99% good. No wonder I've been so inclined to not work on OWY1U.
"BS Analyser" - 99% evil. The Gematriculator is even meaner to the BS Analyser than it is to itself.
"Cure for autism" - 89% good. In the rundown, it also says that "autism"=650=13×50.

If you find another interesting one, let me know.

EDIT: Interesting ones I found on my own later: (you may wanna bookmark this)

"SmackJeeves" and "Homestar Runner Wiki Forum" are ironically 80% and 99% good, respectively.
"Sins" and "arsonist" are ironically multiples of 7.

Post to your journal (this phrase is 99% good)

Most members of SmackJeeves and the Homestar Runner Wiki Forum. Because SmackJeeves never gives constructive criticism when you need it and the HRWF is way too obsessed with lame Internet memes.

Are you incentivized?
Are there any buzz words or catch-phrases--such as incentivize or at the end of the day--that make you cringe? What are they, and why do you hate them?

Answer View Answers

Any Internet meme except "boot to the head" because they're just so overused.

"So i herd u liek mudkipz????"

"IT'S OVER 9000!!"

"I'm firin' my lazer! SH00P DA W00P!"*

"O RLY?" "YA RLY" "NO WAI!"

Etc., etc. See how annoying they are?

However, I've never heard of the word "incentivize" before (I had to look it up) and have no idea how either it or "at the end of the day" is annoying (though "incentivize" does sound like a weird word).

*This one is somewhat less annoying if "SH00P DA W00P" is replaced with "BLAARRGGHH!"

O RLY?

What oft-repeated quote or common cliché do you find the most annoying when someone says it to you?

All of them. Well, almost all.

I Don't Normally Do This Kind of Thing
Have you ever found yourself enjoying something you had previously scorned as a cliché? What was it?

Answer View Answers

Hmm, let's see...

- Sonic games, but I still think Mario's better, and that there are far too many Sonic webcomics for any of them to be good. (One of the reasons I left SmackJeeves)
- "SH00P DA W00P". I thought it was a cliché until I saw its origin, the Lazer Collection, and decided that the Lazer Collection was cool, but overuse in webcomics isn't, another reason I left SmackJeeves.
- Chuck Norris jokes; I like to hear them only every once in awhile.
EDIT: One I couldn't think of off the top of my head originally:
- Boot to the head. I thought it, as well as anything at all Phoenix Wright-related, was cliché until I actually watched the video. 'Twas hilarious.

The opposite also happens to me sometimes - I enjoy something, but then later scorn it as a cliché. Here's a list of those:

- Starfox games
- Pokémon games (I still think the Red, Blue, and Yellow versions are good, though. It just got too complicated starting with Gold and Silver. And Nintendo had no right to replace Mewtwo with Lucario in SSBB.)
- Captain Falcon (It gets annoying to see and/or hear "FALCON PUNCH!!" a lot on the Internet)

For both lists, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

FALCON REPOST!!
matt1993: (dr. octagonapus & watch)
So I went to a belated birthday party for a friend of mine at an autism intervention group I go to. At one point, some of us were playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was playing as Mr. Game & Watch for one match, and whenever I used his Final Smash (turning into an octopus for those who don't know), the friend that the party was for, being a fan of the Lazer Collection videos, said "DR. OCTAGONAPUS!!" At one point, I said "DR. OCTAGONAPUS & WATCH!!" when using the Final Smash. Guess what he thought I said?

...

"Pucker up because we're about to have some lunch."

...Yeah. Well, that's what I have as my "real" name on my profile now. Yay!

It's hard to describe this journal in just a few paragraphs... but I'll try

Just an autistic guy born in 1993 (hence the username) who's had this journal since I was 14. Has trouble phrasing things well especially in earlier entries, so keep that in mind.

My interests have fluctuated in the 17 years since I've had this journal, but the following has remained constant:
- I like Mario games (mainly the platformers, Mario Kart, Mario Party) and Super Smash Bros.
- I like Garfield
- I like Homestar Runner
- I like Enya
- And I've always loved the idea of wacky crossovers between ANY of my interests, whether it's in the form of a short-lived webcomic in 2006-2008, a short-lived backwards lyrics site in 2008, writing down weird dreams in 2009-2011, playing Tomodachi Life a lot in 2014-2016, or what most of my posts are about these days: playing around with Character.AI starting in 2023. I still can't believe I'm actually in a world where an AI of Enya can talk to AIs of Mario or Garfield or even my favorite obscure characters like Mary O. from Super Mario Maker. :O
