"It is what it is" is my least favorite. I had a manager who over-used it as a response any time anyone had any complaint. So any time I hear it, I hear her voice, and grit my teeth.

I didn't even know that was a cliché until now. I was thinking more along the lines of "SH00P DA W00P" (which is okay in The Lazer Collection and Random Crap with Homestar Runner, but not in any webcomic on SmackJeeves), "it's over 9000", "this is Sparta", "Chuck Norris did ____ or can do ____" (which I find funny every once in a while), anything about Weegee, Pedobear, or the Tails Doll, and so on.

I haven't decided. Though I guess I can rule out SH00P DA W00P and Chuck Norris jokes because I like those sometimes, and boot to the head because I actually find that one funny.

Nope, a cliche is saying something uplifting and true but overused. Like, "when a door closes, a window opens." Meaning that if a good situation ends, eventually another good situation will happen.

Lol. Looking back at this I realize you were right about it being cliché.

So....you were right! It has become trite or commonplace through overuse. Sorry. Also, I cannot stand when people say "it is what it is." Ugh. So I second that opinion.

(Explanation to anyone besides us who happens to revisit this entry even later than we did: Some drama on LJ that happened much later made it seem not only plausible, but likely, that a lot of my old entries and comments - including this one - might make people, even my LJ friends, hate me, so I linked to all of the posts that I was worried about.)

The reason I included this one (and other similar ones) is because it was ironic that I was using overused Internet memes just to prove how annoying those memes were. And yes, I'm kind of doing the same thing again by using this userpic, but it's based more on the inside joke I ended up coming up with than the meme that initially led to it.
