Whatever Matt Feels Like Posting

Today (well, yesterday because it's 1:09 AM) was my first anniversary as a direct employee at work! :)

I was going to post some other things I'd been meaning to mention, but now this is the one that's on my mind the most so I'm gonna briefly post about just this one so I can kinda get it off my chest:

Just now I discovered that TWO YouTube channels I'd at some point seen a couple of videos of, liked those videos, and wanted to watch more of eventually have ended recently... one (Etika) is actually GONE now, and the other (cobanermani456) is still there but no new videos will be made, apparently because of a controversy that spiraled out of something that sounds a lot like mistakes I have made in the past...

THIS IS FREAKING ME OUT NOW. Just like earlier this year when I found out that THREE webcomics I wanted to read were gone now.

ANYTHING I LIKE CAN BE TAKEN DOWN AT ANY MOMENT. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY REASON NOT TO PANIC.

Yep, this one's also late... On the plus side, stay tuned - in the next Miiverse backup entry after this one, I finally post in communities that aren't NSMBU or Nintendo Land a couple of times! :)

I'm against SOPA for all of the same reasons that the Gods of Being Able to Voice Opinions Better than Matt1993 (e.g. LiveJournal, Wikipedia, Google, Randall Munroe, Ryan North...) are - and this is coming from a guy who usually doesn't comment on anything controversial because he either becomes depressed about what side to be on or posts about an occurrence of a number like 206 in a news article or something rather than actually discussing the issue.

In fact, until SOPA is rejected, I'm going to do a clever take on the blackouts that Wikipedia, Wikia, xkcd and Dinosaur Comics (and any other websites I don't know about yet) have done - I'll blackout as many of my userpics (well, not really blackout - I'm not sure how to describe it, so just look at the userpic on this entry) as I can before the 24th (or whenever SOPA is rejected, or - if we're too unlucky for that - SOPA is repealed after becoming law). To keep this from turning out like my attempt at replacing userpics with PSL-styled variations (i.e., not getting to finish soon enough), I'm gonna upload each one as soon as I make it. Dunno how many I'll be able to replace before the impending apocalypse the Senate begins voting on it, though...

EDIT: These are even more difficult to make than I thought! I only got four finished today, but trust me, you don't need to see 112 shadowed userpics containing somewhere from 5 to 109 SOPA jokes to see my (and LJ's, and Wikipedia's, and Google's...) point. According to Google, the White House didn't even need one. I'm still gonna make more, though!

And yes, I know my LJ isn't well-known enough for this to have much of an impact, but I'm putting the idea out there for anyone else who wants to try it.

*It's too different from our universe for it to be parallel :P

In other news, today we're celebrating ellaina02's birthday four days late (I would've posted about it then if I had finished my homework that day sooner). Once she gets here and opens the present pathvain_aelien and I got her, I'll post what it is.

EDIT: I can't believe I completely forgot to post this, but it was an iPod Shuffle.

Although today isn't E02's actual birthday, I finished drawing Waenya (for those who don't know, Waenya's a character from my backwards music site, Ours Will You 1-Up) on January 9, 2009, so today can be considered her actual birthday. Since OWY1U is down right now, I might as well post the drawing to LJ. I wanted to redraw Waenya in my newer drawing style first, but I didn't have enough time, so at least now she gets her own image instead of just enya_waenya_comparison.png.

Since there's 51 minutes left until it's been 666 hours since my 666 dream, I wanted to go ahead and post the rest of my Garfield randomizer comics so far. If I find any more good ones, I'll add them to the same image so that all I'll have to do is upload the new copy to OWY1U's unrelated attachment page.
