I just looked at the interests in my profile for the first time in a while and...

WHOA. It's WAY outdated.

Homestar Runner?!

Garfield??!

MARIO?!?!

When was the last time I liked those?!

Unfortunately I can't fix it just yet either because I've been busy lately. I had enough time to come up with a new interests list:

/b/, 15, 16, 23, 300, 4, 4-8-15-16-23-42, 4chan, 42, 4815162342, 5 nights at freddy's, 69, 8, all your base, angry video game nerd, arguing, arguing about gender, arguing about politics, arguing about sports, arguments, arrow to the knee, assuming bad faith, assuming everything is homophobic, assuming everything is racist, assuming everything is sexist, assuming neurotypicals are jerks, assuming nts are jerks, atheism, avgn, ayb, ban comic sans, being a jerk, being mean, bell peppers, cake is a lie, call of duty, captain falcon, cars, chili, chuck norris, cinema sins, cinemasins, controversy, creative writing, cussing, cuss words, debates, dirty jokes, do a barrel roll, do not want, dorkly, double standards, dragonball z, dubstep, encyclopedia dramatica, essays, estj, extroverts, feminism, feminist frequency, final destination, five nights at freddy's, flame wars, flashgitz, fnaf, football, for glory, fox only, foxadhd, game of thrones, game theory, gaming sins, gamingsins, geno, grand theft auto, grudges, gta, guns, halo, hating everything, holding grudges, hoo-hah, hot-button topics, hunting, i lost the game, impromptu speeches, indexed, innuendo, innuendos, insults, internet memes, it's over 9000, it's over nine thousand, jersey shore, judging people, lettuce, little mac, lucario, malleo, matpat, matthew patrick, memes, metal gear, moral dilemmas, mr. z, mustard, no items, no wai!, o rly?, onions, overanalyzing cartoons, overanalyzing comics, overanalyzing everything, overanalyzing movies, overanalyzing video games, paint.net, photoshop, pickles, political arguments, political debates, politics, potato salad, profanity, psychcentral, public speaking, rap, research papers, rickroll, rickrolling, salad, shoop da woop, sonty mick, sports, sqrt(-garfield) memes, sromg memes, starting arguments, swearing, taking offense to everything, team fortress, team fortress 2, that's what she said, the game, the game theorists, the office, the walking dead, this is sparta, tl;dr, uncyclopedia, walking dead, weegee, weegee stare, writing essays, writing papers, ya rly, yolo, your mom, your mom jokes, yu-gi-oh, zero wing, zombies

But that's over 150 interests, and I don't have time right now to narrow it down to just 150. Hopefully I will this weekend. At least this gives you a chance to marvel at just how NOT ME my old interests list is, I guess.

And I still need to come up with a new default userpic... and like 40 or 50 new non-default userpics, and a new profile, and a new profile name...

(I hope I don't end up overusing this and my previous entry's style of subject line as much as I overused "When the End Times come, we will all <verb> the <Noun Phrase> of the Apocalypse" back in the day...)

One (I hope) last entry before I actually go through with changing my journal style, because I really don't want this to be the first thing I post about after I change it:

So, a couple of days ago, I Googled "overcoming stress" and found some of these articles, which led me to the rest even though they're not all necessarily about stress:

These helped me feel a LOT better!... at first.

Then I got to these:

http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2014/02/11/beware-of-she-wolves/

When I read these, they resonated REALLY well with how I felt about the Forbidden Comment Threads! I thought my depression would be over for good!

...at first.

But then I read the comments on the last two articles. Now, despite having at one point almost completely gotten over my worry about suddenly being hated by everyone, even you guys, if I don't word something very well or it gets misread, I'm now back where I started. Because the comments on those articles suggest - no, prove - that I am a horrible, pathetic excuse for a human being just for feeling the way I feel about the Forbidden Comment Threads. And that I can never be forgiven for ANYTHING. :(

Characters whose percentages were higher this time: Leonard McCoy (Bones), Chekov, Will Riker, Uhura, Picard, Mr. Sulu

Characters whose percentages stayed the same: redshirt, Kirk, Worf, Beverly Crusher

Characters whose percentages were lower this time: Deanna Troi, Data, Geordi LaForge, Spock, Mr. Scott

I still don't know a whole lot about Star Trek (having only seen two movies and only being almost sure that those are the only two movies so far, and not having seen the show so the movies were hard to follow along occasionally), so while I did skim a few articles on memory-alpha.org, it's going to be mostly up to you to figure out what this says about me.

I do have a couple of guesses, though:
- First and second place were a redshirt and Deanna Troi last time; I had a feeling that a) first place would be a redshirt again but b) second place would probably be a male character this time, given what the Forbidden Comment Threads have done to the way I think. Not only was I right about both of these predictions, it also makes sense that Troi is still in the top 5 because she's a counselor and so she probably does think a lot like me. In fact, now I'm kind of surprised that she isn't still second or at least third.
- It seems to me that a lot of Star Trek fans argue about whether Kirk or Picard is better; given how much I try to avoid arguing of any kind (especially after the Forbidden Comment Threads), it makes sense that they got exactly the same percentage this time. Although last time, Kirk got 35% and Picard got 25%. That's going to start a flame war even though that was last time and I don't know what (if anything) that says about me, isn't it? Wait, of course it won't - the inevitable flame war about gender will probably start first...

Unnoticeably repost again
matt1993: (pass)
Sorry I haven't been able to post in a while. That semester was so intense, I rarely even had enough free time to complain about it on LiveJournal!

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that a) everything I know on LJ except my journal has dramatically changed in the time that I haven't posted, just like it did the last time I went a month or so without posting, and b) I'm not going to be able to adequately make up for the lack of posts. But I guess I'll try anyway by posting how I generally felt about each class:

And sorry for forgetting to put a LJ-cut at first :( )

And... that's about all I can do to catch up on posting for now. I'd have posted more quiz/meme reruns if I'd done any quizzes or memes between 5 years before my last entry and 5 years before this entry, but as it is, the next one's still not until the 14th.

Disprove the result "If this entry has

matt1993: (infinite-paragraph essay)
Sorry I haven't posted or checked my friends page in a while - I once again had so much homework pile up on me at once that a) I didn't have much free time and b) whenever I did, I was so tired of having to work on stuff that I ended up spending it playing video games instead.

Not only that, but the past two weeks in Psychology class, we discussed the chapter that reminded me of the Forbidden Comment Threads the most when I glanced at random pages from my textbook... *shudder* Gender, Sex, and Sexuality.

Luckily, only one argument ever happened throughout all the class sessions about that chapter, I managed to stay out of it, and it wasn't even bad enough that anyone who's even slightly more emotionally stable than I am is likely to also count it as an argument. But there were still a lot of things said in the textbook and the lectures that reminded me of the FCT... *shudder*

At least we're done with that chapter, and it's Spring Break now!!! And I got to see The LEGO Movie yesterday!!

Hopefully, I'll make progress on something this Spring Break...

Start the drama that inevitably

matt1993: (sad stick war)
I am constantly befuddled at the fact that everywhere I look online, I see people who have the amazing ability to read/listen to/participate in online drama that looks like it might be tongue-in-cheek but isn't 100% certain to be so, and not only not experience mental trauma because of it, but actually enjoy it, to the point of starting it just because it's "fun".

I'm not talking about typical trolls; I'm talking about stuff like this (a discussion thread on SROMG #1222), this (a discussion thread on LMOO #486), and especially this. There's the chance that all three of those are tongue-in-cheek, but if there's a chance that they're not, then there's a chance that those people will overanalyze anything I write in the same way. They're probably not aware of it, but the possibly joking controversy that they "enjoy" completely ruins my life whenever I read it. If the more recent ones continue like they have been, they could ruin some of my favorite webcomics, too.

And even worse, I'm the only person I know of who's affected by it in this way. I might as well call it "Matt1993's Syndrome", since I must be the only person on Earth who has it. Andy Weir of Casey & Andy (a webcomic I discovered because there's a few links to it in Irregular Webcomic!) is the only other person I know of who doesn't like political webcomics, but even he clearly doesn't have Matt1993's Syndrome, as he didn't have any problem with working political discussions in the annotations and even a few of the comics. Don't get me wrong, most of the comics cheer me up, but there's also one that's so much like the Forbidden Comment Threads that I'm not even going to try and find it just so I won't have to read that one again.

And since I'm the only one with Matt1993's Syndrome, no one's ever going to advocate for the rights of those with it... :(

I'm not sure how much sense this makes, especially given that I wrote most of it in only 5-15 minutes. I just felt that I had to rant about it. At least if it doesn't make sense, it proves another point about Matt1993's Syndrome: people (or person, anyway) with it are unable to even talk about controversy without saying something stupid.

Rant at me for weeks about some statement in this post that, with context removed, looks offensive

I actually did pretty well on the SAT this time! I finished all of the sections (even the essay), and even if I hadn't had accommodations for extended time, I still would have finished all of the math sections and the last writing section! YAY!

More Moya's Space Log. I'm up to 2,102 words now, and Team Brennario (it gets tedious to say "Mario, Luigi, Enya, and Moya" or "the Marios and the Brennans" over and over) is finally in space! Yay!

Good Morning Heartache
What is something you worry about everyday? How long has it been plaguing you? Do you think you'll ever overcome it?

Answer View Answers

Saying/doing stupid things. I'd say the first time I thought about something I've done and decided it was stupid was in fourth grade, so that means it's been plaguing me for 7 years. I don't think I'll ever overcome it since I have a problem with random associations in which a word or phrase could remind me of something else that I get distracted by and start thinking about until a word or phrase from it reminds me of another thing, etc.; thus, any given word or phrase could ultimately remind me of something stupid I've said or done even if it's completely unrelated. (In fact, I'd say that about 20 to 50% of the times I've gotten distracted like this, at least one of my random thoughts was about something stupid I'd done.)

And, of course, it doesn't help that I keep doing stupid things... :(

Xlormplover, if you're fine with your real name not being pixelized, tell me and I'll put up the non-pixelized version.

Are you a better sorority girl than a reposted entry?

It's hard to describe this journal in just a few paragraphs... but I'll try

Just an autistic guy born in 1993 (hence the username) who's had this journal since I was 14. Has trouble phrasing things well especially in earlier entries, so keep that in mind.

My interests have fluctuated in the 17 years since I've had this journal, but the following has remained constant:
- I like Mario games (mainly the platformers, Mario Kart, Mario Party) and Super Smash Bros.
- I like Garfield
- I like Homestar Runner
- I like Enya
- And I've always loved the idea of wacky crossovers between ANY of my interests, whether it's in the form of a short-lived webcomic in 2006-2008, a short-lived backwards lyrics site in 2008, writing down weird dreams in 2009-2011, playing Tomodachi Life a lot in 2014-2016, or what most of my posts are about these days: playing around with Character.AI starting in 2023. I still can't believe I'm actually in a world where an AI of Enya can talk to AIs of Mario or Garfield or even my favorite obscure characters like Mary O. from Super Mario Maker. :O
