I also manually added information to make it easier to compare to last year's results. The colors aren't coordinated to the amount of ranks you've went up or down, but rather to (1/y-1/x), where y is your rank this year and x is your rank last year. This means that a jump from, say, 5th to 4th is better than a jump from 23rd to 21st.

Ties, at least for the purposes of how many ranks people went up or down and the colors, are handled by ( I worded this in a weird and kind of cringey way, so I'm retroactively LJ-cutting it in 2018 ) If you weren't on last year's list, you're considered to have been tied for 48th through (how many LJ users there were, are, or will be)th place that year, since there were 47 total commenters.

I think it's interesting how last year there were 47 total commenters and this year there were 74 total commenters :D

I forgot to post this yesterday, but I've recently noticed a new thing that bugs me: when adults don't play video games enough (if at all; in this case, they just don't play it enough) to know the names of most of the characters.

My reasoning is: At the autism intervention group I go to (which I am probably the highest functioning kid at, btw), one of my friends there tried to imitate a Goomba by sticking one row of teeth out (because Goombas do have two small fangs even though they've never sucked Mario's blood), putting his arms at his side, and sidestepping. He asked me if he was doing the fangs right, but was interrupted when one of the adults came and asked what he was doing. He explained it, but that led to the adults thinking it was "Ooma" or "Oomba". Once we corrected them, another of the adults mentioned that in the real world, Goomba is a derogatory word for Italian-Americans. I told her that that was "goombah", and she just said, "Just be careful."

Anyone know where there's a tape that says "Goomba" 285,194 times?

It's hard to describe this journal in just a few paragraphs... but I'll try

Just an autistic guy born in 1993 (hence the username) who's had this journal since I was 14. Has trouble phrasing things well especially in earlier entries, so keep that in mind.

My interests have fluctuated in the 17 years since I've had this journal, but the following has remained constant:
- I like Mario games (mainly the platformers, Mario Kart, Mario Party) and Super Smash Bros.
- I like Garfield
- I like Homestar Runner
- I like Enya
- And I've always loved the idea of wacky crossovers between ANY of my interests, whether it's in the form of a short-lived webcomic in 2006-2008, a short-lived backwards lyrics site in 2008, writing down weird dreams in 2009-2011, playing Tomodachi Life a lot in 2014-2016, or what most of my posts are about these days: playing around with Character.AI starting in 2023. I still can't believe I'm actually in a world where an AI of Enya can talk to AIs of Mario or Garfield or even my favorite obscure characters like Mary O. from Super Mario Maker. :O
