You know what's even nerdier and niche-ier than writing an entire entry about a hypothetical Super Smash Bros. moveset for the guide to a video game manual?

Writing TWO entries about a moveset for the guide to a game manual, of course! :P


I wrote that first entry about Mary O. & Yamamura's made-up moveset shortly before the E3 reveal of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and since then I've thought of some updates to make to it based on what was revealed about the actual game... enough that I'm gonna have to bore everyone with another entry about it so I don't have to keep getting distracted thinking about the idea! Since the actual game comes out this week, now seems like the right time. :)


In the unlikely event that you're interested in reading this entry but haven't read the first one yet, I'd recommend reading that one first. Because in this entry I mostly only describe the changes I made, without repeating anything I decided to leave unchanged.

Hey, there's an idea for a totally nerdy survey...

This page has a table (several paragraphs down from the beginning of that section...) that lists the dates every* Super Smash Bros. character debuted (because in SSB4, the order you fight them in All-Star Mode is based on that).

Use that to figure out your answers to these questions:

1) Which SSB character(s), if any, debuted on your birthday in any year?

2) Which SSB character(s) debuted closest to the date you were born?
Meta Knight (debuted March 23, 1993 - the date closest to July 14, 1993 in that list).

3) Which SSB character(s) debuted closest to the date you created your LiveJournal/DreamWidth/some-other-journal-site account? (If you have/had multiple journals, you may answer this separately for all of them, some of them, or just one. Whichever you prefer.)
My LJ was created on August 19, 2007 - the character whose debut was closest to that is Rosalina (November 1, 2007).
My DW was created on May 13, 2017, long after the debut of the newest character (Corrin, on June 25, 2015).

I'm trying not to overuse this phrase too much nowadays, but HOLY WHOLE HAND DEALER.


While watching this, I paused pretty much every second just so I'd have more time to try to identify some of the characters in there. (Which I had to do again anyway so I could put all the characters I recognize in the tags. [EDIT: And, as I usually do, a few that aren't in there and are just tangentially relevant to jokes I used in this entry.]) :D

So I was playing SSBB last night while [livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien and I were talking about several topics relating to the Zelda characters, and eventually we ended up deciding that Link would be sorted into Gryffindor, Zelda would be sorted into Ravenclaw, and Ganondorf would be sorted into Slytherin if they went to Hogwarts. That inspired me to decide on which House all SSBB characters would be sorted into.

It's hard to describe this journal in just a few paragraphs... but I'll try

Just an autistic guy born in 1993 (hence the username) who's had this journal since I was 14. Has trouble phrasing things well especially in earlier entries, so keep that in mind.

My interests have fluctuated in the 17 years since I've had this journal, but the following has remained constant:
- I like Mario games (mainly the platformers, Mario Kart, Mario Party) and Super Smash Bros.
- I like Garfield
- I like Homestar Runner
- I like Enya
- And I've always loved the idea of wacky crossovers between ANY of my interests, whether it's in the form of a short-lived webcomic in 2006-2008, a short-lived backwards lyrics site in 2008, writing down weird dreams in 2009-2011, playing Tomodachi Life a lot in 2014-2016, or what most of my posts are about these days: playing around with Character.AI starting in 2023. I still can't believe I'm actually in a world where an AI of Enya can talk to AIs of Mario or Garfield or even my favorite obscure characters like Mary O. from Super Mario Maker. :O
