Is it the end of the world?
Wed, Mar. 11th, 2020 18:07Okay, I was hoping I wouldn't have to make a post about the coronavirus, and initially I wasn't all that worried about it, but I've been hearing about the coronavirus so frequently, for so long, that I have to ask:
1) Is it the end of the world? The way people talk about it, it doesn't sound like there is any way the coronavirus threat will EVER be over.
2) Am I a horrible person for not posting a single entry about it until now and not really wanting to talk about it? Or for having been the same way about the swine flu back in 2009?
3) Am I a horrible person for... Wow. I could've sworn that there was an additional question in the form "am I a horrible person for _____" that I was going to ask, but I must be so concerned about being seen as a horrible person that I forgot what the question was.
I'm pretty sure the answer to 2 and 3 is going to be yes. :(

Date: Sat, Mar. 14th, 2020 18:42 (UTC)Even if we survive as a species - which, there's no indication that we will - will I get through it? I'm more depressed than I've been in years. I can barely cope whenever I hear about one thing being cancelled or shut down - now EVERYTHING in the world is being cancelled or delayed (and the delayed ones will probably just be delayed repeatedly because the coronavirus will still be around) as a precaution. I understand that it's for people's safety, but do they expect that doing so WON'T make people panic way more than they already are? And people who complain about how it sucks that anything they like was cancelled get lectured for doing so, as if wanting to be happy and take their mind off of the coronavirus makes them bad people.
I've only known about all these cancellations for four days and I already feel like I'm gonna die. Not of the coronavirus, but of sheer depression. And it's only made worse by the fact that I know that things are going to get worse before they get better, and that things will NOT get better for two months at best and two YEARS at worst when I'm surprised I survived the first two HOURS of this depression.
(Before you tell me to see my counselor: that will probably also be cancelled until the coronavirus is over, and even if it weren't, I'd still have to wait six days. See what I mean about every way that we can potentially cope in this difficult time being cancelled?)
