Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2011. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

January 2011
Happy New Year everyone!

(Interestingly, the entry this line was from is also a New Year meme :) )

February 2011
I've rarely been unique when it comes to usernames, so when I joined Neopets (I know this is about LJ, I'm getting to that), I wanted to have my username just be "matt", but since that was already taken, it generated some usernames consisting of "matt" followed by random numbers and asked me to pick one. I chose "matt1140142774271".

March 2011
I am SO sick right now. I felt awful all day today and yesterday.

April 2011
HWHD × ∫-∞x dx. YESTERDAY WAS THE MOST AWESOME DAY OF MY ENTIRE LIFE.

(Sadly, nothing particularly awesome actually happened that day - that's just a quote from an April Fool's prank I posted. But at least I made my first well-thought-out LJ April Fool's prank this year, even if parts of it don't really make sense!)

May 2011
[livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien wanted to see my two new Charlie the Unicorn userpics, so here are:

June 2011
Sometime earlier today, for no reason, I randomly thought about how I used to mishear Strong Bad's "I'm casually late!" line in the Strong Bad E-mail "modeling" as "Lunch has three legs!" (I know...my hearing can be really bad sometimes.)

July 2011

August 2011

September 2011
(this one doesn't make sense without the subject line, which was "You might be a Matt1993 if...")
You take from 1:20PM to 11:32PM to finish 34 or 47 (depending on how multi-step Calculus III problems are counted) homework problems, thanks to what might be your most distracting creative vortex yet.

October 2011
WHOA! Perfect timing, [livejournal.com profile] bullying_begone - today, I met my first real-life bully in 11 years. (So far, people online have only been mean to me when I actually say stupid stuff, so I don't count those.)

November 2011
First of all, had I not decided to actually go to bed tonight (once I finish typing this post), tonight would have been my third all-nighter so far.

December 2011
Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] glowing_dragon!

What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
- Went to college.
- Got overly depressed about comment threads in a manner reminiscent of the way I was soon after I realized that PrtSc Land was, in fact, not as awesome as I had thought it was.
- Alienated two entire communities. :(

Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Nope, although while "do less than 4 stupid things per day on average" was definitely too high of a goal, I think I may have gotten over my procrastination problem, so if I redid "work on creative vortexes for at least an hour almost every day", I might actually get closer to keeping it.

However, I think a better goal would be to at least end the year with less creative vortexes than I started it with just to make sure that it's possible to eventually get rid of the mental roadblock they're creating, so that's my resolution for this year. I'm also going to try to not say more than 36 stupid things online, as saying stupid things is much worse if it's on the Internet for all to see.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
One of [livejournal.com profile] pathvain_aelien's cats did. And then it seems one of the kittens did, too. Pretty early...

Did anyone close to you die?
Not that I can think of, although I have thought several times this year that Schrödinger's Enya was dead...

What countries did you visit?
Technically, none. I did go to Puerto Rico for a senior trip, but that's still a U.S. territory.

What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Common sense and a complete lack of creative vortexes.

What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory?
November 18, 2011 - the day I first read the Forbidden Comment Threads. Remember how when I did this for 2009, I decided to start calling April 8 the "Ides of Author Cancelled" because of something that happened in [livejournal.com profile] autism that day? I am officially moving the date of the Ides of Author Cancelled to November 18. It deserves it MUCH more than April 8 does.

What was your biggest achievement of the year? Actually overcoming my depression about the Forbidden Comment Threads.

What was your biggest failure? Pretty much everything else I did this year.

Did you suffer illness or injury? Not any more or less than usual, aside from that day that I fell over.

What was the best thing you bought? One of my new Mario T-shirts. (I'd say my 3DS or something, but that was a Christmas gift, so that doesn't count)

Whose behaviour merited celebration? All of my LJ friends!

Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? Certain people in the F̪͓͚ͦͣ͌̔ͫo̹̞̎r̴̮̬b̡̰̪̰̺̰̮͍̏ͨ̆͐i̞͚̭d͖̤̘̭ͧ͆̉͐ͣͭ̀d̰̪̓͠e̱̱n̖͈̟͇̠̺̍̇̏ ̶̪̲̫̥̼C̬̫̾ͤ̓͛̈́͝o͍͂͌͌͞m̩̘̾̐̽̀̌͂͗m̩͔̪͔͉͔͙ͦͩͭ̓̄e̟̳̦̖̓ͦ͐̿̇n͇̲͖͍̈́̑̋ͦ̽ͥṯ̼ͪͧ͡ ̴̱̘͙̻͋̓̑̅ͦͧŤ̂̔̄h͙͙̘͒͞ṙ̭̱̈́̚e̶͉̫̘̠̤̟̝͆ͤͮ̚a̹͕̮͔̒͆͆̂ͪ͟d̹̲̊̄š̼̱͖̪̳̰̓̿̽ͭ̽ͮ.͎̜͆͋͛̈́̒̅͂͢ J̙̩̳̦̙̏ͮ͐ͬ̓ù̵̱̝̺̹̖ͥs̷̳͎͚̱̜̭̋͂̂͗͊͘t̷͉̲̮͆́̏̄̂̂ ̩̪̪̖͔̞̮̼̳̌ͨ̀̃̎͂́̚s̔ͬ̒ͯ̊͏̖̹̦a̝̮̝̹͕ͧy̢̙̳̞̮̖̜͈̟̣̿̈ͨ͂̀͋ͣ̏̈́i̴̾̀͂ͮ̀̑̊҉̲͓n̸͍͚̗͇̗ͨ͟g̴͉̖̩̠̟͎̫͙̓͛͌̏̚͞ ̭̓͊͞s̝̪͙̅̊͐̀̃͊̚ő̸̘̙͇̺͘ ̙̫̯̞̼͔̿ͤͤ̈́͗͘i̦̔ͦ͒͂͌̌̽ͦ͢s͉͓̻̞̥̉̃ͬͧ̌ͣ̓̓͢ ̨ͭ̔̑ͣ̔̂̾͏̰̩͎̝p̺̹̬͚͇͋͒ͦ̊̎ͨ̈͊͘r̭̼͙͛ͣͫ̅́̕o̶͓͉̲̤̙̩̞͔͂̑͐̚͝ͅb̴ͭ̔ͤ̔̾͆͡҉͚͙̖͔̣ǎ̆ͭ̎̂ͩ͐ͯͦ҉҉̳̣̣̲͖̺b̤͖̖͛͛͘ḻ̣̹͆̈́ͤ͋̉̎̇͛ͨ͡͝ÿ́̓ͩ̃͒͜҉͔̯̥̤͎͚̬͙ ̤̮̖̤̳͇̹̰̼͛͊̀ģ͕̗̖̦̤̝͇̲̿̔ọ̶̧̪̭͓͈̬͓ͭ͂ͩͬͧ͛̒̅i̸͉̳ͦ̄n̵̥͎ͩg̵͉̤̓̏ͨ͆̆̃̾͜͡ ̶̻͓͈͎̆t̻͕̝ͣ̅͂ͫͣ̚o̶̙̹͆̀́̾̀ͧͭ ȑ̴̵̨̛̫̝̩͓̮͎̺̥̿ͯͦ̓̽̚̕ͅẹ̵̝͉͍̺̒ͯͯ̾h̸̷̯͈̰͖̫̖̩̙̙̯͉͖͇ͯ̾ͥ̅̋͘͘͝a̷̡͛̃ͣ̐ͬ͗͒͐ͯ̅ͤ̍̿̅͏̴̙̝̻̗̬̪̮̬͓͇̝͎ͅş̧̦̤̰̠̣ͩ̈́̄ͦͨͤ̃̋͆̐̓̌ͬ̕͜͞ḩ̵̵̞̭̮͇̜̝͇̱̖̭̗̿́̾̐̋̂͢ͅͅ ̨̗̭̞̟͓ͫ͂̍ͯ̀ͪͫ͂́͜͢͠t̫͙̤̰ͦͬͯ̽ͦ̓̽̑̏ͤͭͭ̉̈́̑̀̀̕͘͝ḧ̛̻̭̗͍̬͇́̆̓ͭ̒̀ͮ̆͌ͥͧ́̕͟ĕ̷̛̟̟̣͙͇̳̰͍̈͌́ͯ͌̀ͭͣ̆̀̓ͣ͛͢͟ ̵̢̟͕̤̻̖͍̀̋͋ͫ͛͂̊ͯ̓͐̈́͒̐͜ẁ̶̛̱̯͓̼͚̺̪͚̩̻̯͂̽ͦ̈́̑̓̎ͬ̽̕͟͝ḩ̬͔̞̮͕̦̹͈̗͇̗̟̖͓̖̾̈́͂͐̚͢͢ǫ̡̗͎͕͕̯͕̱̲ͯ̐̏ͦ̆ͦ̅̉̈́̉̔ͮ̆͒͒ͫͩ̚͜͡l̉̃͐̃̂̓ͭ̋̋ͮ̆͂̏̕҉͎̘̗͓̙̫̹̞̣̲̲̤̫̙ͅ6̱͓͓̠̣̖̝̠͉̏ͬ̒́͗ͯ̿̓ͭ͆̂̕͠͡6̵̶̥̫͉̭̳͑ͩ̽͑͆́̓͒͜6̵̢̧͕̪̖̮̲̫̝̦̲̺͕͂͐̌ͨ̐̄̒ͭ̄̄̋ͭ̒̚̚ͅ ̓̃ͤ̔ͮͣ͑͛̍ͦͭ̊̈́ͦ̎͏̤̠̦͈͙̙͉̜̤̘ͅ6̸̵̽ͭ̄̅҉̳̖̯̳̘̻̣̖̯̺̹̗̙ͅ6̧̫̲̦̱̅̆͌ͩ̔͛̎ͥͤͯ͗͟6̶̶̜͉͓̘͖̙̪͍̼͓̩̠̭̖̓̔͌͌͐͐ͧͪ̉͌ͫ̀͢ ͣͯ̇ͨ̀̉̃̓ͨ̎ͮ̾ͤͭ̈́ͦ͏̡̦͔̳͖̳͇͈͚ͅ6̡̝̝̤̭̰̟͎̦̦̣̲̱͖̤̙̓̽ͥ̅ͨ͘̕͟6̧̥̠͔̦̯̤ͦͩ͑̿̐̓ͮ͂̀͊̐ͬͥͧ̓ͫ̚͜͠͡͠6̶̛̤͙͈̥̰͇͎̼̘̰̗̭͇̩ͨͨͦ͛̌̔͟͜ ̴̻̼̞̥̼͚̱͕̩͙͔̫̰̙̲̲͈̠ͧͨ̽ͮ̒̐͂ͣ̋̈ͧ̐ͨ͟͟6̷̵̨̙̗̠͍̝̘̆͂͊͒̌̿ͮ̍ͬͭ̌͑̒́̀6̷̦̦̦̰͉̮͉̖̻͙̻͈͖͋ͨ̾̂͝6̶̞̙̜͍̰̳̳͈̾̾̾ͣ̐͂̊̅ͥͦͭͩ́̉́́ͯ́̚ͅ ̈̆͊ͭ̃̌̓͂̋̂́ͬ̋̔ͤ̔͗̑͐͢҉̣̭͇̹̠̝̼̲̬͚̰̺͇̖̺̗ͅͅ6̨̡͓̥̺͈̜̫̙̦͕͙̏ͮ̊̂̀̐̎͌ͭ̋̀̅̂̋̚̕͠ͅ6̗͓͈͚̖͈̿̋̌̓ͨ̑ͭ̆̍͑͆̚͘͝ͅͅͅ6̵̸͉̳̯͇̖̭̺͖̤̖͍͕ͯ́̐͑ͣ̾ͤ̓͛͂̉͛͑̎́ ̵̛͕̲̝̲̪̣̋̔͗̋ͦ̀6̴̨͈̲̝̤̝̬̹͎͕̭̹͙̠͍̍̓ͬ̉̎͛̓̓͛ͪ̀̕͝6͔͓͚͕͔̱̭̣̙̰ͨͭ̊̍̎̇ͦ͑͐̌̆̏͑͟6̷̦͖͈̺̪̘̦͚̬̭̥͓̜͈̞̞̥̌ͦͮ͑̔͊̎ͬ͜ ͛ͤͤͥ̈́̇ͪ̓͋̇̌̏̿̊̎͏̸̥̞͙͎̰̠̭̲̦̘̼̲̜͇̺̺̮̤̞6̵̧̲̻͍̠̻͙̪̬̱̯ͩ̿ͪ͗ͭ́ͮ̎̈ͮ̚͝6ͥͯ͑͑͛ͬ̚͏͎̬̰̙͇͔̠̭̥͎̮̰̬̩͘͟6̸͍͍͕̫͈̦̊͗̏ͦ̈́̐̂̔̂͂ͫ̽ͫ͑̑͑ͨͧͭ̕s̵̨̗̫͉̺̝̘̀ͪ̔̐ͮ͆̒̇̕n̨̛͕̮͎̪̺̠̹̳̥͔̟̝͖̰̥̤̗̱ͣ̐̑ͨ̿̅͂ͦ́̂̂̽ͧ͘͢'̨̡̳̝͔̼̰͕͔͙͂̀͊͆ͧ̋͐̀̿̇̊͌̈́ͥͩ̾̿̕͘͘ţ̳̱̫̬͙̟̹̝͉͗̀̂̃ͦͫ̊ͦ̐̎ͣ́͠͝ ̸͔̳̠̦̰̼͈͇͚̾͗͆̓ͬ́̿̽ͨ̓͂̔ͪ͝ͅȋ̶̘̟͇̫͎͖̳͈̟͖̇̐͌̄t̵̜̗̦̟͍̲̩ͨ̔͗̑̅̎̒͘͞?̞͉̬͈̣͎̦͔̻̭̂͆ͣ͊́́ͬͧ̽̽͠ͅ

Where did most of your money go? Probably gambling. Of course, my college tuition was actually more, but Mom paid for it, so it doesn't count because it's not my money.

What did you get really, really, really excited about? The ends of my last semester of high school and first semester of college. And Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. Also, pretty much any time I saw the number 206.

What song/album will always remind you of 2011? Pretty much any music from Super Mario 3D Land. The main theme was stuck in my head long before I actually got that game :)

Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder? Sadder. I've gotten over my depression about the Forbidden Comment Threads, but I'm still more depressed in general than I was last year, especially since I've had this answer three years in a row...

Thinner or fatter?
Thinner. A lot of days in college, I didn't get up early enough to have lunch :(

Richer or poorer? I don't really know. Poorer would be a good guess given the economy, but I did win quite a lot gambling sometimes, so...

What do you wish you'd done more of? Working on my creative vortexes! If I'd been as productive at the start of 2011 as I am now, I'd be so much better at focusing...

What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastinating.

How did you spend Christmas? Same as usual - opening presents at home, then going over to my aunt's house for a while.

Who did you spend the most time on the phone with? Mom. No big surprise considering how many times she had to call me to get me up in college.

How many one night stands did you have in this last year? None. Sever your leg, please.

What was your favourite TV show? The only shows I watched much this year were X-Files, Charmed and Frasier, so one of those. Can't decide which.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I try not to actually hate anyone, but...Forbidden Comment Threads. (I can't even make this answer grammatically correct without running the risk of rehashing what happened...)

What was the best book(s) you read? The Bird's Nest, as that was pretty much the only book I read this year aside from my high school and college textbooks.

What was your greatest musical discovery? Probably various video game music remixes I've found.

What did you want and get? New video games and out of high school.

What did you want and not get? An Enya concert, some more freed-up brain cells that used to contain my creative vortexes, and out of college.

What were your favourite films of this year? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2. I can't really think of any other films I watched this year.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 18, and see here.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011? I always wore clothes this year.

What kept you sane? On the few occasions that I was sane, Enya. And various webcomics. :)

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I'm sure by now I don't have to tell you :P

What political issue stirred you the most? Do the Forbidden Comment Threads count? They were annoying enough to count as a political issue, at least :P

Who did you miss? Schrödinger's Enya. If only I hadn't kept trying to be her friend and the paparazzi at the same time, she might have stuck around...

Who was the best new person you met? [livejournal.com profile] glowing_dragon! (Actually, pretty much any of my new LJ friends. It's just that G_D is the most frequent commenter so far.)

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011. Stay away from [livejournal.com profile] asperger. Bad things happen there.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year? The song that sums up my year doesn't actually have any lyrics, so I'll post a video instead. In fact, I'll post three videos of different versions of it.

(Yay, I finally found a remix of this song!!! :D )

EDIT: Can't believe I forgot to say this last time, but this is my 800th entry!!! :D

Sum up YOUR 2011!

I was wondering why my name showed up in the tags, so of course I had to look at the whole uncut entry. ;)

Haha! Thanks! You're pretty interesting yourself! :D

[identity profile] adawnrae.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Meep! I'm sorry that [livejournal.com profile] asperger has become a bad place for you. :( It is kind of weird for me, now, too. Maybe it will be less so in the coming year? Sometimes the internet blows up, but that is usually a pretty mellow community. That said, no rehashing of things past, all is well.

I am also slightly eepy over the fact that you are half my age, but hey, welcome (way belatedly) to Adultland! It has its neat perks. One night stands aren't really one of them, though, they are just kind of disappointing and icky. Who asks that sort of question, anyway?

Oh, and just because I need to say it one more time before the year is over: YOU ARE WAY TOO HARD ON YOURSELF. (Despite popular culture's best attempts to make teenagers look all suave and clever, in reality, doing/saying dumb stuff is the essential nature of the age bracket.)

*hug* Happy 2012, cutie!

[identity profile] adawnrae.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
How is it eepy, though?

Hmm, that one is kind of hard to explain, and I do hate to pull the, ÿou'll understand when you're older," line. But it really is difficult at your age to understand how odd it feels to realize that you have been having adult conversations with someone who is young enough to be your offspring. When this happens to you (many years from now), suddenly you will feel older than Methuselah. And when those conversations have included topics like sexual fetishes, it is stranger yet.

That said, it isn't as though eepiness is going to stop me. I have always been more about personalities and minds than about age brackets, it is just a bit disconcerting to find those qualities in kids half my age, who I seem to recall being, you know, kids. :P

Re: Being too hard on yourself: Bear in mind that you are a lot more aware of your mistakes than you are of other people's. While you may see other people make one or two mistakes where your paths cross, you do not see everything in their lives, as you do your own. And most good natured people notice their own errors more than they notice others' anyway, so it is only natural that you are more focused on your own. But I would hate to see it get to a point where it interfered with your ability to be happy, that's no fun at all.

[identity profile] adawnrae.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, ffs, sorry about that. I do tend to use diminutives to refer to pretty much everyone I like. Pay no attention to sweetie, honey, cutie, kiddo, darling, dear boy, or anything else that may pop into my head. It is something of a bad habit. I used to call my ex fiancée (6-foot-6 and fourteen years my senior) "little one" more often than anything else, including his actual name. I would probably still call you kiddo occasionally if you were older than me, as I am wont to do.

[identity profile] eccentricrabbit.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Fashion concept? I always wore clothes. Love it! :D

I'm so going to do the 'my year in review' thing. :-D

I hope you have a good year. I'm so pleased that we met on LJ. :)

[identity profile] pathvain-aelien.livejournal.com 2012-01-08 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Got overly depressed about comment threads in a manner reminiscent of the way I was soon after I realized that PrtSc Land was, in fact, not as awesome as I had thought it was."
It was, too!

"How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011? I always wore clothes this year."
Lol!

"Who did you miss? Schrödinger's Enya. If only I hadn't kept trying to be her friend and the paparazzi at the same time, she might have stuck around..."
:(. That has nothing to do with you, and more with the fact that she doesn't use LJ much.

And you didn't fail at anything this year. You did great in your first semester and you will do even better next semester!
