I wasn't even born yet when the first Mario game came out, but I've been a Mario fanatic since I was about 3 - either Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario World was the first Mario game I played. For pretty much every Mario game since Super Mario 64, I still remember a time when it was brand new!
For that reason, my favorite of these Super Mario Odyssey remixes is probably the SM64-style one - it's mind-blowing to realize that the soundfont of the first Mario game I ever thought of as "a brand-new game" has now been used for a remix of music from a Mario game that was announced two decades later. :)
(Though if someone made the Super Mario Odyssey theme in SMW style, that would probably become my new favorite - Super Mario World has always been one of my favorite games of all time.)
I've played some Zelda games, but was never as good at them as I was at Mario. My sister pathvain_aelien plays Zelda games a lot more than I do.
I am a huge Super Smash Bros. fan, though - I've probably played as Link (and other Zelda characters) more often in the Smash games than in actual Zelda games. (Even though I've probably played as Mario characters in Smash more often than both combined.) :)
As for Metroid, I didn't even know about Metroid until I played the first SSB game... which isn't saying much since I was only 6 or 7 by then, but it still wasn't until 2008 when I decided to actually get the first Metroid game (and first Kirby game and first Pikmin game, because those were all games I'd learned more about from Smash than anything else and thought I should try at some point). So I got all three of those games for Christmas that year, but of those, Kirby was the only one I felt like I was good at. And of the other two, Pikmin was the only one I felt like I was okay at. (I've also now played a demo of Super Metroid thanks to amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits, but I don't think I'm good at that either. :P )
A lot of the older games take time (many hours, many weeks) to get good at. The reason I mentioned them is because people are celebrating the 30th anniversary that the first Metroid came out.
I was good at Mario, Zelda and Metroid, but Dragon Warrior/Quest and Final Fantasy will always be my favorites.

That's what I expected - in fact, the only versions of the original Super Mario Bros. or Kid Icarus I ever actually beat were Super Mario Bros. Deluxe and 3D Classics Kid Icarus (which are both slightly easier than the originals). And I still have yet to beat any version of Super Mario Bros. 2 or 3 (unless beating the final bosses from those in NES Remix 2 counts)... I have some catching up to do! :)
The only Final Fantasy game I've played is Final Fantasy VIII (and even then, only briefly - pathvain_aelien used to play it a LOT but there was one part she needed my help with). I definitely used to watch her play it a lot, though. :)
So far I haven't played a Dragon Warrior/Quest game - the only game I've played that even has Dragon Quest characters in it is Fortune Street.
I just got done watching the first of those videos you linked to - really cool! I'm surprised how well they synced up the music to the video. :)

There is one now! Yay!
This is probably the first video I ever embedded in an entry or comment before I finished watching it. :)
