It feels like being trapped between weird expectations and hostility, with huge potential for misunderstandings. It just kind of makes me sad now.

Yeah... As I said, the only thing I hate (or even dislike) about Valentine's Day is the fact that every year, I see less love and romance and more complaining. I know romance is a bit cliché, but imagining loving couples holding hands or hugging or something always makes me feel a little happier (which I really need whenever anti-valentine negativity makes me depressed). Valentine's Day would be much easier to enjoy if people didn't care so much about commercialism and just, well, enjoyed it.
